Description

Explore one of the most enchanting national parks in Europe on this full-day tour. Plitvice Lakes National Park features a unique natural phenomenon of 16 lakes that are connected to each other by a continuous chain of waterfalls.

The magnificent Plitvice Lakes National Park was founded in 1949, which makes it one of the oldest national parks in Southeast Europe. This verdant paradise has been protected as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site since 1979. The whole park covers an area of 73,353 acres (29,685 ha), where lakes take up 494 acres (200 ha), while forests cover the rest of the park. If you are a nature lover, this area is ideal because you can encounter different animal and plant species that have been living here for millions of years longer than humans.

Visit one of the most famous attractions in the park, the eye-catching, 225-foot-high (78 m) waterfall called Veliki Slap, which is the tallest waterfall in Croatia. Your guided tour of the park includes a walking tour, boat trip and a panoramic tour of the area on an electric train.

On your way back to Split, you pass through the Lika region. This region is famous for its mountains and beautiful forests. After seeing the magnificent views, you have an opportunity to taste traditional Croatian cuisine (at your own expense) in a well-known restaurant – which is basically an unavoidable stop for every true traveller in Croatia.

One of the most stunning places in the world. It was not very hard to find the meeting location and our guide Petar was great. He was very knowledgeable about not only the lakes but a lot about Croatian history and current state of events. He is well read and his passion for Croatia showed through in the tour, which really helped in the 3hr ride back and forth from the lakes from Split. Would definitely recommend this tour.

It was excellent! The lakes were absolutely beautiful and the tour guide was amazingly helpful . One thing I would note is this is for somebody in relatively good athletic condition.
