Harrison's Cave Underground Tour

by Glory Tours Duration 3h Picks up from select hotels Picks up from select hotels Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is £52

Delve into the mystical caverns of Harrison’s Cave, learning about the formation of this fascinating grotto, riding a tram through its subterranean galleries, and marvelling at its luminous underground waterfall.

After being picked up from your hotel, make your way up the lush and forested island hillside to Harrison’s Cave – opened to visitors in 1981, this incredible, 1.5-mile (2.3 km) long hollow sat forgotten for nearly 200 years before being rediscovered in 1976.

Watch a short film on the natural history and geology of Barbados that shows you just how the cave was formed, and then board a tram for a fascinating tour through its cool, echoing halls. Check out the impressive stalactites and stalagmites formed by centuries of dripping, calcium-rich water, and gaze up over 15 metres (50 feet) to the soaring ceiling of the Great Hall. Hop off the tram to admire The Village, where a group of formations have fused into a crowd of columns standing guard over an emerald pool.

After emerging from the stony stillness of the ancient cave, spend some time exploring the cliff and valley trails in the area. Learn about gullies and other geological features of Barbados, admire the tropical plants and flowers, and keep your eyes peeled for a green monkey in the treetops before the return trip to your hotel.

Harrison’s Cave is simply amazing! The staff greeted us warmly upon arrival. Next, a short video was shown to provide a bit of background about the island and cave’s history. After the video, we rode comfortably on a tram into the depths of the earth. The scenery was breathtaking! Our tour guide talked us through this underground wonder. Our driver would periodically stop while we were in the cave so that we could take photos. Thank you Harrison Cave staff for making this a truly memorable experience.

I enjoyd the tour. The driver also showed some landmarks, on the way to the Caves, which was good. I had arranged two tours with Expedia on my Caribbean holiday and both the tours took place unlike tours I had booked with another agent which got cancelled 24 hours before due to insufficient interest. Whilst writing, I would like to mention that on the Soufriere Island Delight Tour in St Lucia, we (who had booked with Expedia) were asked to join another group at the Diamond Waterfall gardens which was very rushed because most in the group had to go back to the boat.
