The tour was excellent with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Loved the working windmills. The tour could have done with a little extra time to allow for taking in the sites as with such a tight schedule we were moved on fairly quickly and missed the cheese tasting as we had to leave to catch the river cruise, but otherwise it was great.

They sent me a canal cruise cancellation notice by email that was sent after we left for Europe. After waiting 10 minutes after the departure time, I saw an SUV with the word ZAAN on it's side. Since our tour was with Zaanse Schans, I ran across the street to see if, by chance, they were from the same operation. They were. The lady handed me an envelope reading, "Tour Cancelled" and drove off. Inside were 25 Euros, a fraction of what I'd paid for a canal cruise for two. No one came to the docking point with a sheet showing our names or calling out to us. Had they done so, we would have known that the cruise was cancelled. After getting back from the trip, I found the message and someone was supposed to have given us a land excursion with the 25 euros being a partial refund. We were VERY disappointed in their lack of communication at the scene and not offering the land tour which we would have taken.
