Leaving the busy roads of Benidorm behind you are soon motoring into the hills with rural countryside and charming farming villages. Along these mountain roads see places such as La Nucia, from which the vast expanse of the Mediterranean Sea sparkles in the distance, and then pause at Polop to snap a photo of the picturesque houses dotting the landscape.

At Guadalest admire castles that rise from the granite mountain as vestiges of the area's past as a strategic position in times of conflict. Explore the town at your leisure, perhaps take a seat and take in the stunning view of verdant hillsides contrasting brilliantly with the dazzling blue lake. Then visit a local shop with regional delicacies such as honey, fruit and wine before returning to Benidorm.
