by Rio Carioca Duration 4h Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per traveller Price is £44

Explore one of the largest urban forests in the world with a tour of Tijuca National Park. Accompanied by an expert guide, enjoy the tropical rainforest and learn about its rich bio-diversity. On the way, pass natural sights like the Taunay waterfall and Vista Chinesa belvedere.

After getting picked up from your hotel, meet your guide at a trailhead in Tijuca National Park. Covering 7,936 acres (3,211 ha), Rio de Janeiro's tropical rainforest is one of the largest urban forests in the world and features a vibrant range of bio-diversity. Start strolling through the foliage, quickly surrounding yourself with amazing Brazilian flora and endangered plant species. As you walk, learn about the history of the forest, which was developed in the second half of the 19th century, and keep an eye out for the many animal and bird species that populate the trees.

Your guide takes you to unique outlooks and landmarks in the park, including the Vista Chinesa, a beautiful belvedere that overlooks Rio de Janeiro's southern side. Also pass the Taunay waterfall, which tumbles 100 feet (30 metre) over rugged rock faces into a calm pool below. Stop by the nearby Mayrink Chapel, built in 1860 and known for its pink facade. At the peak of your trek, pause to take in views of the monolithic Pedra da Gávea and the Christ the Redeemer statue before making your way back to your starting point.

A bit of a delay with pick up but other than that it was a great tour. Vinícius was knowledgeable, patient and funny. The forest has a lot of different things to see and if you want hiking, this is not the tour for that.

Not exactly what was expected. We were expecting a hike through the forest but were driven to various points and lookouts instead. Still very beautiful.
