Description

Unlock the scenic charms of Bosnia and Herzegovina during a full-day guided tour to Pocitelj and Mostar—the site of the Stari Most, or Old Bridge. An expert guide ushers you across the Croatian border into Bosnia and Herzegovina, where you can immerse yourself in the rich history of the region.

Your day begins with pick-up from your Split or Trogir hotel. As the sun casts it rosy glow over the landscape, leave the coast in your rearview mirror and motor into Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the banks of the Neretva River, the mediaeval town of Pocitelj beckons. Pull over to stroll Pocitelj's main thoroughfare and discover how the impact of the Ottoman Empire continues to influence life in the region.

Next, trade the idyllic lanes of Pocitelj for the hidden gems of Mostar, the cultural capital of Herzegovina. Begin at the UNESCO-listed Stari Most, a majestic arch that links the landmark towers on either side of the Neretva River. If you time your visit right, you may witness a special stunt—fearless youngsters dazzle tourists by plunging off the bridge into the river's icy depths below.

Your tour also leads you to the Ottoman quarter, where your guide reveals the former bazaar and mosque. Admire countless examples of Islamic architecture, and then take some time to wander the enclave on your own, pausing treat yourself to a late-afternoon lunch. During the return to Croatia, cruise through Herzegovina's rocky landscapes and pass the Kravica Waterfall.

I couldn’t recommend this enough! Mostar is beautiful and such a lovely, historic city and was great to have a local tour guide. The driver was funny and friendly, and all the staff present on the trip were so welcoming and keen to show us around.

I took the Mostar and Kravica Falls tour with Grayline June 9. As with the other side tours I was so impressed with the day. The scenery was truly amazing. The guide, Darita and our driver Joško were excellent. Professional. Helpful. Personable. Not sure how many other positive adjectives I can use. Our Mostar guide Sasha was knowledgeable and patient with my never ending questions. I was particularly interested in Mostar as I recall what they call the Homeland War and the utter devastation of this beautiful and historic city, whatever the reason it caused untold damage and I was very interested in how they came back from that period. The old city and the other damaged historical buildings have pretty well been rebuilt and most of the old part of the city is barely 20 years old. It’s worth the trip even though it was close to 40 degrees. The Kravica Falls were spectacular. Darita and Joško were excellent representatives of Grayline. Take this tour.

Great tour Interesting contrast between Christian and Muslim cultures Great to see they both coexist in peace again A little too much time in Mostar Be ready for a long border crossing into Bosnia Nice relaxing time at Kravica waterfall
