Description

A great opportunity to bike around the city from north to south in one day, looking around and learning about their history, distinctive features and contrasts.

Ride bikes and take the panoramic bike path on Avenida del Libertador that leads you along the edge of the sculpture parks.

Stop at the Floralis Generica park to have mate (traditional infusion) with alfajores (traditional sandwich cookie). Reach Plaza San Martín, where you’re going to tell you about the great deeds of the Libertador de América (liberator of South America). Move on through the Microcentro (central business district) to find Plaza de Mayo and La Manzana de las Luces, exceptional witnesses of the most transcendental events in the history of Argentina.

From one moment to another, go from the oldest part in town to the newest: Puerto Madero.Take a break on the old Río de la Plata river bank to try a delicious sandwich at one of the typical food trucks of the promenade. It doesn’t get any more Porteño than that. We continue to La Boca to visit the colourful tenement houses of Caminito and the Bombonera. Keep on cycling and move on to the old San Telmo.

Now it’s time to move north. In the last section of the bike tour, ride through Recoleta, a residential district, and focus on its cemetery, that you will walk through to better look at its impressive tombs and mausoleums, where the remains of great Argentine personalities from every field rest in peace.

Julián was an excellent host. He gave us a porteño’s perspective on modern life in BA. Traveling by bicycle, we saw more neighbourhoods than we would have seen solely on foot. By taking our time, we got to enjoy our surroundings, taking in more sights and sounds and smells. Yet we still had plenty of time to walk around the cemetery in Recoleta and several parks. And despite the occasional road traffic, I never felt like I was in any danger. All in all, a great way to spend a day in BA.
