Your destination is Cha Loi Cave – also known as Ong Giap Cave or General Cave – a historical hideout used by General Vo Nguyen Giap and Vietnamese soldiers during the resistance war against America. Located 45 km southwest of Dong Hoi, this hidden gem offers both tranquility and an exciting adventure.
Embark on a level 3 challenge, trekking through cassava fields, crossing vast valleys, and swimming in a cold underground river (approx. 22°C). Discover magical stalactites, mysterious waterways, and the untouched wilderness of the region.
After the cave adventure, unwind at the peaceful Love Valley – a camping and check-in spot nestled among the mountains. Here, you’ll immerse yourself in the culture of the Bru Van Kieu ethnic group and savour authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Itinerary Overview:
Night 1: Hanoi – Dong Hoi
Arrive at Hanoi Station 30 minutes to 1 hour before departure.
20:05: JBQ1 train departs for Quang Binh. Overnight on the train.
Day 2: Cha Loi Cave Exploration (Group Tour)
06:10: Arrive at Dong Hoi Station. Enjoy breakfast nearby.
08:00: Pick-up by car and tour guide. Head to Cha Loi Cave in Le Thuy district, about 45 km southwest of Dong Hoi.
Stop at Long Dai Ferry, a key supply point on the Ho Chi Minh Road during the Vietnam War. Take photos and listen to its history.
08:30: Arrive at Sung Village – the operator’s base. Gear up with provided equipment (torches, gloves, shoes, etc.) and receive a safety briefing.
Begin exploring Nuoc Cave (Ong Giap Cave), followed by a visit to the A72 Communication Station, once vital for wartime communication.
Then, dive into the main Cha Loi Cave adventure, which spans over 4 km. Activities include hiking, climbing, and swimming. Highlights include the breathtaking Tunnel of Love and stunning stalactite formations.
13:00: Exit the cave and enjoy a local lunch prepared by Netin Travel, surrounded by rice fields and serene nature. Take a well-deserved rest.
15:00: Travel to Coi Village, home of the Bru Van Kieu people and the picturesque Love Valley.
16:00: Return to the car park and depart for Dong Hoi.
17:30: Drop-off at Dong Hoi Station or Airport. Tour ends.
