Description

Explore the modern architectural treasures of Barcelona on this tour of the iconic Sagrada Família and the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site. As a knowledgeable guide introduces you to the works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner, learn about the ins and outs of these spectacular structures.

After meeting your guide, skip the lines at Sagrada Família and head inside Antoni Gaudí's astonishing cathedral. As you marvel at its richly ornamented and symbolic interior, learn how Gaudí created a masterful spin on the modernisme movement. Then, delve deeper into the history of his magnum opus with time to browse the Sagrada Família museum.

Afterward, stroll down the Avenida Gaudí, which cuts diagonally across the city grid to reach Hospital de Sant Pau. Your guide points out the interesting architectural elements of the buildings along the way. Once you arrive, walk around the original hospital site, no longer in use, to marvel at the incredible Art Nouveau designs of Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

Start at the San Salvador Pavilion for an introduction to Domènech i Montaner's life and work, and then follow an outdoor route to admire the hospital's stunning exteriors. Your guide explains how Domènech i Montaner used domes, facades, and stained-glass windows to create a renowned modernist aesthetic. Afterward, venture into the Sant Rafael Pavilion, Administration Pavilion, and underground tunnels for a look at the hospital's well-preserved interiors before wrapping up your tour.
