Evening Jewish Ghetto Tour with Wine & Starters

by City Wonders Limited Non-refundable No booking or credit card fees
Price Not Available

Explore the historic Jewish Quarter of Venice, and taste the local tradition of cicchetti (appetisers) on this relaxing stroll through the neighbourhood. Walk away from the more crowded sites and enjoy an authentic taste of Venice.

Wander down the historic streets of the Jewish Quarter in the evening when the canals are at their most picturesque. This area served as inspiration for Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, and today the Jewish Quarter is still an active centre for the Jewish community.

Discover the traditional open-air market, the place where locals get their daily supplies of fish, vegetables and fruit. Then visit some of the most popular wine bars in the city—bàcari—to sample regional wines and cicchetti. Like Spanish tapas, cicchetti are bite-size versions of local delicacies—fried meatballs, creamy codfish mousse or a creative bruschetta. You can always find the best of the day’s market in these one-of-a-kind creations.

A very lovely night with a great guide in Emmanuelle, who was witty and charming. The places we visited were interesting and the wine and starters were terrific. The Jewish Ghetto at night was eerie and serene, a great place to visit along with Cannereggio. There is more to Venice than San Marco square come out and visit Cannereggio and taste some great wine and starters.

Do NOT take this excursion, and it should not be on the Expedia website. This company is NOT deserving of your name and promotion. We got lost on the way to the meeting point (Venice can be a difficult city to navigate and the meeting point was vague). We had to buy something in a nearby shop to even get wifi to call the company. The person who answered was very rude and unhelpful. Even being 6 minutes behind the group we were not allowed to catch the group at the first tasting which could not have been far from the meeting point. No helpful compromise could be reached with this individual, and no supervisor was available to assist. If you are in Venice looking for a tour such as this, there are many more reputable companies that offer this. Do NOT work with this company on ANY excursion. I'm not sure what quality would be delivered if we actually had the opportunity to join the group already in progress for a few minutes, but based on their customer service I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere for any tour managed by City Wonders. They do not deserve the business based on how we were treated, and there are more companies that do what they do much better. I hope for yoiur sake, you heed this advice. I don't want anyone else to have this experience with their family on vacation.
