Description

Explore Berlin in the footsteps of David Bowie alongside an expert historian guide. Go behind the lyrics from his Berlin Trilogy albums as you see the places the iconic rock star frequented in the 1970s, such as Neue Ufer Café, the famous recording studio Hansa, and even where he lived.

Meet your guide and head to the Bahnhof Zoo railway station in what was once the heart of Cold War-era West Berlin. In this now-bustling city hub, your guide points out the location of the grungy 1981 cult film Christiane F. featuring Bowie and his music. Then, make your way to the site of the former Dschungel Club, once a glitzy place to party and now a hotel. Looking up at the modern rows of windows, you can almost see Bowie and Grace Jones living it up.

Next, your guide takes you to David Bowie's Berlin home—a yellow, 5-storey building that still stands on Haupstrasse—where he lived with fellow musician Iggy Pop. Make your way to nearby Neues Ufer café, where Bowie was a regular, and peek inside to see the Bowie picture hanging in the back corner.

Later, as you walk to Potsdamer Platz, your guide gives you new insights into Bowie's connection with the area. See sections of the Berlin Wall covered in colourful graffiti. Pass the eerie Topography of Terror museum—the former Nazi headquarters—on your way to the grand-looking Hansa recording studios where Bowie made his some of his most creative music—the albums Low, Heroes, and Lodger. Before your tour ends, stroll by sections of the city mentioned in Bowie's music like the historic, towering KaDeWe department store.

Guide was great and very knowledgeable, my partner is more the Bowie fan and loved it but I found it very interesting, tied in history and music together in the struggle for Berlin to unify and the part it played on David Bowie's life. Very informative and great time it just flew by
