Description

Enjoy the guided tour of the majestic Palazzo Ducale and St. Mark’s Basilica and visit two of Venice’s unmissable monuments. Get a close-up view of the fantastic architecture of these monuments and access areas normally close to the public. Skip the notoriously-long queues and make the most of this experience spending your time exploring these incredible attractions.

Meet your guide in St. Mark's Square and set off for the Palazzo Ducale. Visiting this grand residence will be like travelling back in time to the Venice of the Renaissance: you will learn about the historical significance of the Duke’s former home, admire paintings of Venice’s past glories and gaze at the coffered ceiling above the Golden Staircase. Cross the Bridge of Sighs and follow in the footsteps of those less fortunate souls who once called the Palace of Prisons their home.

Next, make your way towards the skyscraping domes of the magnificent St. Mark’s Basilica, which has held court over its namesake plaza since the 11th century. Marvel at the golden mosaics and marble floors as your guide explains the meaning behind the biblical scenes depicted all over this Gothic Byzantine cathedral.

Finally, you will have the opportunity to join an optional glassblowing demonstration at a glass factory very close to Saint Mark’s square, or use your museum ticket to explore other attractions, such as the Museo Correr, the Archaeological Museum, the area built by Napoleon, and the rooms renovated to accommodate Sissi, the beloved Empress of Austria.

Guide was very knowledgeable. The church was spectacular!! Allow yourself extra time to find the meetup spot as it is very crowded and chaotic in the square. if you do not meet on time the tour will leave without you. But the tour is totally worth it!
