Description

St. Louis Cemetery #1 is off limits unless you are accompanied by a licensed tour guide. You can’t get in without us! Don’t miss out on some of the most unique aspects of New Orleans’ culture and history. St. Louis Cemetery #1, New Orleans’ oldest, continuously operated above ground Catholic cemetery is the highlight of our 3-in-1 walking tour.

Explore the French Quarter, getting an inside look at its rich and tumultuous history. Join an expert guide and enjoy a fascinating historical walk through the French Quarter - where the history of New Orleans comes alive - as your guide leads you to St. Louis Cemetery #1. Followed by a quick break, the tour continues to gorgeous Congo Square, where the guide's expert storytelling explains jazz, Voodoo and Marie Laveau's importance to the city.

Meet your guide in the heart of the French Quarter, and prepare for your illuminating excursion. First, walking down St. Louis Street as the group travels to St. Louis Cemetery #1. Along the way, learn about the blend of Spanish, French, and Creole buildings that have helped to define this district—some of them dating back to 1790.

Next, arrive at St. Louis Cemetery where you can glimpse breath-taking stone crypts and exquisite mausoleums built above the ground to guard against flooding. Glimpse the tomb of Marie Laveau-a local legend referred to as the “Queen of Voodoo” because of her highly successful and hauntingly influential spiritual practise.

Finally, cap your adventures off with visits to Basin Street Station, Louis Armstrong Park, and Congo Square. At Louis Armstrong Park, see where Voodoo devotees congregated on Sundays. Learn about the important role Voodoo played in establishing a community for members of the African diaspora in 18th- and 19th-century French Louisiana.

James was a pretty good tour guide. He was very informative and made walking around in the humid weather worth it. We learned a lot of history on our tour which I liked. He even suggested food places for us to eat at and advice on how to not get conned in NOLA. I would definitely suggest choosing them to guide you.

James was a great guide! Born and raised in NOLA, he takes pride in his city. Fun, knowledgeable and really cared for the comfort (from the heat) of his group. Definitely recommend!

Our tour guide Fred was an excellent source of information. He went out of his way to answer all of my questions. We would love to return someday and tour with you again.
