Know Before You Book

  • Children aged 17 and younger must be accompanied by a paying adult.

  • Car seats are required for children 3 and younger, and rear-facing car seats are required for children 11 months and younger. You must provide your own car seat.

  • If you have back, neck, joint or muscular problems, you should carefully consider whether or not to participate.

  • You must make your own way to the meeting point at La Plata Canyon, 16 miles (26 km) west of Durango.

Start your trip at the mouth of the La Plata canyon, just 16 miles (26 km) from downtown Durango. You expert guide takes you on a wild ride, winding your way up and through the rugged canyon. Stop midway to snack on some fresh fruit, crisps and salsa, and pure Weminuche Wilderness water as you enjoy the view from Kennebec Pass, at an elevation of nearly 12,000 feet (3,600 metre).

Along the way, learn about the canyon's mining history, the native Ute people, the local geology, and the region's flora and fauna as your all-terrain vehicle takes you through the wilderness in comfort. See a side of the Colorado mountains that you don't want to miss.
