Visit Chichicastenango, known for its famous market where vendors sell handicrafts, food, flowers, pottery, wooden boxes, condiments, medicinal plants, candles, grindstones, animals, and machetes. Then take a boat ride across beautiful Lake Atitlan, the deepest lake in Central America.

Day 1 Leaving Guatemala City, head to Chichicastenango and see the colourful outdoor market where every Thursday and Sunday locals buy and sell fruit, vegetables, flowers, grains, pom and copal , cal (stones for preparing tortillas), pigs and chickens, textiles, and handicrafts. Get a chance see Santo Tomas Church and continue to Panajachel on Lake Atitlan.

Day 2 Take a boat ride across Lake Atitlan, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, to the village of Santiago Atitlan. Reach Santiago Atitlan, set between volcanoes—Volcan San Pedroolcan, Volcan Toliman and Volcan Atitlan.

Visit the Mayan God Maximon and learn about the spiritualism and beliefs of the T’zutujil Maya. Learn about textiles and see a woman wrap her head with the long head ribbon or cinta that resembles a halo when in place.

Stop at the Santiago Apostol Church, built between 1572 and 1581, restored several times after significant earthquake damage. It has 3 altarpieces representing the 3 volcanoes towering over the village. Return to Panajachel for a walk in the Santander street and enjoy a ride to hotels in Antigua Guatemala or Guatemala City.
