“One of the best ways to live like a local is to stay in an apartment of your own – and in Madrid there are many different areas of the city to choose from, each with their own character. Here are eight apartments to give you a taste of everyday life in Spanish capital, as well as info on what you’ll find in your local neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

With its mix of shops, theatres and restaurants, the Grand Via is Madrid’s main boulevard and a hive of activity. If you want to be right in the heart of things, the Grand Via Capital<\/a> apartments are an excellent choice, and other attractions within walking distance include the Royal Palace and the Plaza de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n

Art lovers will know that one of the best reasons to visit Madrid is to get close to world-class works of art, which you can do at the Prado and the Reina Sofia museums. The neighbourhood of Chueca has long been famed for its cafes, bars and nightlife, and is especially popular with Madrid’s gay community. To the north of the Grand Via and its collections of shops and theatres is the neighbourhood of Malasa\u00f1a, long home to Madrid’s artistic scene with a nice mix of galleries, exhibition spaces and hip bars. This is a great area to base yourself for the city’s nightlife scene, but it is also well-located for all the main landmarks and attractions of the city centre.<\/p>\n
