“The Newcastle Racecourse<\/a> is located in the 328-hectare High Gosforth Park near Newcastle Upon Tyne. ### Major races<\/p>\n

The Newcastle Racecourse boasts many major races. The 3-day Northumberland Plate Festival falls in June and concludes with the Northumberland Plate Day, one of the most anticipated flat events. There’s also the Gosforth Park Cup and Chipchase Stakes. This event is one of the most profitable 2-mile handicaps in the world.<\/p>\n

For steeplechasing, the Eider Chase is the most prestigious event of the year. With a total distance of 4 miles and half a furlong dotted with 25 fences, the Eider Chase acts as a starter race for the Grand National. Both of these races feature some of the biggest names in horse racing.<\/p>\n

The course hosts a top-class hurdles race, the Fighting Fifth Hurdle. This Grade 1 event is part of the Triple Crown of Hurdling, which also includes the Champion Hurdle and Christmas Hurdle. Like other trios of races, the Triple Crown of Hurdling is notoriously difficult to achieve.<\/p>\n

### Ladies Day<\/p>\n
