Set-Jetting Alert: Hotels.com finds search increase from travellers looking to live the lotus life

As season 3 of the show charting the luxurious highs and dramatic lows of guests at a fictional resort approaches, Hotels.com predicts it will top shows driving 2025 set-jetting demand. Hotels.com and its fellow Expedia Group brands identified set-jetting in 2022, a trend that has only continued to grow. This year, two-thirds of travellers say movies, streaming services and TV shows have influenced their travel choices, with a 16% increase year-on-year1, this trend shows no signs of slowing in 2025.

Season 2 was set at the  San Domenico Palace and saw a up 300%2 increase in searches after launch, and Hotels.com braces for season 3, which is likely to create the same frenzy at Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. To help travellers secure the best value stay, Hotels.com has found that September kicks off the lowest rates of the year, with nights starting at £1,0853 which continue into peak season in November. Rates reach their highest in August, at £2,543 per night.

Lorenzo Maraviglia, general manager of the San Domenico Palace, Taormina – the Four Seasons hotel that starred as the Sicilian location – says “things have started to get back to a level of normality, but the show has put the destination on the map more than ever before”. With the result likely to be the same for this season, travellers better get booking.

The backdrop for the upcoming season, the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, was designed by architect Bill Bensley to blend naturally into the hillside landscape. The 11 all-private pool villas are woven into the surroundings with stunning ocean views, sand the infinity pool, private cove or Secret Garden Spa mean this is a ‘fly and flop’ destination of dreams. The hotel also offers scuba diving, wakeboarding, paddleboarding, jet skis and even private yacht tours for more adventurous guests.

“At Hotels.com we know that TV shows have a huge influence on travel and we are obsessed with helping travellers live out their dream trips” said vice president of Hotels.com public relations Melanie Fish. “We want to help them not only get the most out of their trips but find the best value time to stay”.

Hotels.com predicts this paradise hotel will be hard to book once the season airs and has pulled together a list of stunning alternatives. Whether it’s the beach, infinity pool or spa, these hotels are a perfect option for those inspired by the show.
