In every area, our stay exceeded our expectations. Definitely get the romantic dinner for two: most exquisite meal we've ever had. Each course was phenomenal. Spa facilities were world class with fantastic view of Alps. Skip the outdoor pool; it was freezing cold. Bed and bedding was very comfortable. After working 20 years in surgery, I have very high standards for cleanliness: A here. Highly recommend.

The staff were all lovely and everything was very clean and new throughout which was great. We were disappointed with the facilities considering that this is marketed as 4 star hotel. This is a B&B with basic continental breakfast. If you are OK with that then I don't think you will be at all disappointed. Don't expect a 4 star hotel though. Reception and front door are locked after 7pm and there were no hot drinks facilities in the rooms and just a very basic TV.

This is an amazing hotel. From the check in where you get personal attention from Ulrike and have all questions answered over a glass of sparking wine or tea, to the magnificent rooms, to the wonderful in house restaurant. The location in the old town could not be better. A few minutes walk to the cable car up to the fortress, to the many shops in the old town. Walking bridges are also not far away if you want to walk to the other side of town across the river. If you can book a room on the fourth floor at the top with access to your own roof top sitting area. This is one of the best small hotels I have ever stayed at. Ulrike organised us taxis when needed, and she also organised the ‘Sound of Music’ tour for us - which by the way was a lot of fun, even if you are not a super fan of the movie.

Staff were kind and courteous. Cute rustic cabin like hotel. And free snack, fruits and drinks with a handwritten welcome card plus a birthday greeting and present for my daughter- all held such a welcoming personal touch. We appreciated all that! Thank you

I stayed at Hotel Salzburgerhof, which is advertised as a 5-star hotel, but it didn’t meet that standard. The first room we were given had no view at all — it was on the ground floor with windows directly facing another building, despite having booked a room with a view. The hotel also doesn’t have direct lake access, which was surprising for its category. After some discussion, we were moved to a room on a higher floor with a lake view, but even that room lacked basic 5-star amenities — it was very minimal. The interior felt outdated and didn’t reflect the luxury one would expect from a hotel of this rating. Another disappointing detail was breakfast. You are assigned a table and not allowed to choose where you sit — even if there are empty tables with a view. This is quite ridiculous for a 5-star hotel and really takes away from the experience. Overall, our stay felt more like a 3-star experience rather than a 5-star one.
