Have paid in other hotels for key operated safes, but never for digital ones in over fifty years of travelling the Med! (481 reviews) Overall service was good. Food was average. Would be nice if a kettle is provided in room. Castle is right beside so it’s great for 1st time visitor. Best to include breakfast when you book your room as nothing around the hotel except the castle. Being high up in the mountain with a great view. There was no water in the rooms this morning but eventually fixed. The key card did not work so well, lights were all off for 3 times during our two nights stay. (67 reviews) This is a lovely hotel I found while searching for places to stay 1 night on the coast from Marbella to Valencia. The staff is very friendly and we both spoke enough English and Spanish to feel comfortable. There is a quaint rooftop garden restaurant with good food and a charming staff. Breakfast was included with pastry and bread, ham and cheese and juices. Very traditional Continental breakfast. The cappuccino was delicious!! The price can’t be beat. I can’t speak as to what there is to do in Portman. It is a small and quiet town. We just stayed the one night as we passed through. But don’t hesitate to book a stay!
