Riviera Maya Scuba Diving Holidays

We stayed 10 nights at Mahekal. It’s definitely different from our usual pick - the Royal Hidaway- but we wanted a change. It’s a 4 or 3.5 star resort that needs a bit of a TLC, but it didn’t bother us. The noise didn’t bother us either, very reasonable. Mosquitos are relentless, very grateful for the Off provided in each room. Staff are very friendly and polite. The welcome at the reception needs improvement. Important to give folks the room that was advertised and paid for. After travelling for 16 hrs, walking to the Oasis part in the heat, then walking back to complain about the room is not great. Then a young person at the reception starts arguing how the resort is not under the obligation to give us the room from the picture only to be interrupted by a more experienced colleague who immediately helped us. And we received the welcome drink :) We ate outside of the resort and I fully recommend it. The resort location is excellent and the 38th street has great restaurants. We only had lunches at Fuego and the food was not great. Starbucks on the property is amazing and Cesar rocks - so friendly! What we liked the most is the Oasis part of the resort and the small pool there, which was mostly empty. We enjoyed the jungle and that pool so much! If everything else was not good we’d still be happy with this vacation due to our room balcony and that pool. I recommend Mahekal, but be aware, you will not find the ACed lobby etc. If you like bohemian, it’s a place to be!

Service was outstanding, food was ok, room clean, staff super helpful and friendly. The pool are is fun and well kept. The beach area is pretty, too bad that sargassum took over, basically unswimmable.

Love this resort. Not my first time there and won’t be my last. Really nice property and facilities, great food and vibe.

To start with off, after arriving at the Cancun airport, outside looked for the Lomas travel reps they where very easy to find. The where very pleasant, took us right over to the shuttle point and in no time we where on our way to the resort. Upon arrival at the resort we where greeted by friendly staff and shown to the check in desk in the amazing lobby. After finishing the quick check in, a beautiful ride thru the resort to our swim-up suite. The room was amazing, very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The resort was amazing so clean everywhere we we went, every one of the staff who we encountered during our stay was a pleasure to talk to and was so helpful. The pools where so enjoyable and the swim up bars and bartenders where great. Every restaurant and every meal was great. The staff in the restaurants made sure everything was perfect and where so friendly. Lomas Travel handled our transportation to and from the airport and made trip seamless. This was a second honeymoon for us and our stay was amazing, everything about the El Dorado Royale was top notch. The resort is so well kept, great staff, and so beautiful. We are already planning our next stay and are so looking forward to it. 5 stars all the way

I had read online that it is so hard to book dinners at restaurants so I was proactive about this and informed the staff about it and they seemed to agree that it’s hard to book? We were 5 people so not a huge group and we had a hard time booking any dinner at any time or restaurant we wanted we either got a restaurant we didn’t like or very late times especially during the entertainment activities they do from 8-9pm. We also were told that we had a reservation at the stakehouse one day and we went there and they had no record of it so we had to go to the open buffet. The buffet food was mid. The drinks were so mid as well. I would not go back here again
