Mr. Summers, Per our conversation, I am writing to formally document my concerns regarding the condition of the hotel room that my family and I were given during our vacation in New Orleans. Unfortunately, the condition of the room was unacceptable and made what should have been an enjoyable family vacation extremely uncomfortable and stressful. The issues we encountered included: Dirty downstairs toilet Strong urine odor throughout the room Filthy and stained carpet Stains on the doors, walls, and light switches Standing water in the shower No hot water on Friday and Saturday A cockroach in the room I was especially disturbed because I was traveling with my four-year-old granddaughter. I constantly had to stop her from touching surfaces and playing with her toys on the floor because of how dirty and unsanitary the room was. As a parent/grandparent, it was extremely concerning to have to worry about whether my child could become sick simply from being in a hotel room that we had paid to stay in. I was so uncomfortable with the condition of the room that I felt compelled to use an entire can of Lysol and Clorox wipes to clean and disinfect the room myself. Who goes on vacation expecting to have to clean and disinfect a hotel room that they are paying to stay in? I was embarrassed to have my family in that room, and the experience significantly affected our vacation. The lack of hot water for two days was frustrating enough, but the overall cleanliness and the presence.
