Beach Cities Los Angeles County Mountain Holidays

The staff at Sonesta was fantastic! Everyone was friendly and welcoming and even though we were a bit early, our room was ready and we were able to check in and relax. When it was time for us to leave, we had a late flight, but we were able to check our bags with the valet/concierge and walk around the pier and boardwalk until it was time to go to the airport. Our room was comfortable and nicely updated. Plenty of outlets and charging ports without having to crawl behind or underneath furniture (I know...sounds silly, but now that absolutely everything needs a charger, it's a big deal!) The lobby and bar always had good energy and friendly people. At night we enjoyed sitting on the little balcony and listening to the seals in the harbor. The location is convenient to get anywhere, but enough off the piers to be peaceful and quiet. Several airlines must have contracts for rooms for their staff for layovers. There was always a steady stream of pilots and flight crews coming and going. Trust where the professionals go... The only part that wasn't 5 stars was the pool. It seems a bit overlooked and neglected. It is on the second floor, so it can't be a huge pool (water is too heavy for that), but there could be more done to make the very large, open concrete deck more inviting. All in all, definitely a good stay.
