Just a bit tired as a hotel

This was a beautiful hotel to spend a night and catch up with a friend. I am sorry I didn’t have time to explore the grounds and surrounding countryside. Everything was clean and the staff were efficient and friendly. Our only negative was that the night clashed with a huge wedding party and we were asked to move from the terrace which was the only warm place to sit outside on a beautiful Summer evening. This was the night before not the day of the wedding! None of the wedding guests were using the terrace either which was the upsetting thing.

I have a mixed review of the Bartley Lodge. It is on beautiful grounds and was one of the few hotels in the area with a (small) pool. We arrived early, and even though our room wasn't ready, they let us walk the grounds and use the pool, which was amazing. Our room was incredibly hot (granted it was during a heatwave, but our room was hotter than the hallway or anywhere else in the hotel). There was an A.C. unit in the room, but it was broken. The other complaint was about the toilet, which was very touchy about flushing. We called down to the front desk 3 times before someone came up to look at it. This employee was able to get it to flush, but mentioned that he gets complaints about the toilet often. We were only able to get it to flush occasionally and joked that you had to have the magic touch. The swimming pool was a lifesaver as was the grounds and gardens. It is a beautiful hotel, and we had good and not so good service there, so it definitely is a mixed review. I would probably recommend it with a few stipulations.

The stay was great, I’ve left one star as we accidentally left our expensive apple laptop charger in the room, we phoned the hotel to see if we could get it back and the staff were very unhelpful, it was definitely left there (which we should have been more observant of when packing and leaving) but when a mistake like that happens you fully expect the staff & cleaners to at least have the decency & trust to keep it aside for a period of time. I feel let down that this has happened. I’m just glad it wasn’t something sentimental like jewellery as I don’t trust it would have been reported or followed up. Shame because the stay outside of this was nice.

Very clean and welcoming in a convenient location. Tobi cooked a great breakfast, had excellent local knowledge that he was happy to share.

Ten out of ten a great staying experience

Room was extremely clean and tidy. Having a fan available in very warm weather was a bonus. Breakfast was better than on previous visits with some nice touches.

Very friendly and helpful. Recommend executive suite with King Bed.

Beautiful room, more than large enough for our family of 3. Extremely clean and well presented. The only thing I can suggest is to add a small fridge and nappy bin, given the room is marketed for families it would be handy. Otherwise, staff were extremely friendly, room was very comfortable, we particularly enjoyed the towel robes they provided! Would absolutely come and stay again at this gorgeous hotel.

Friendly staff in a hotel/pub on the High St with free parking at the back. Our room was spacious and clean. It was very warm so two quiet fans were provided. Bathroom was large and modern with lots of hot water. You might need to know the kitchen closes at 9.15 in the evening (we missed it!) and the staircases are quite narrow and steep if you have any mobility problems. Fresh-cooked breakfast was excellent with really good filter coffee. Ponies just across the road in the morning - we had a lovely stay. Thank-you.
