Madison Hotel is an excellent hotel.

The property and rooms were well maintained and clean. The service was fair. Nothing extra. There were a few things that were annoying. The fee for parking and the use of the QR code to pay for parking. I've stayed here before and parking was free. Was not aware of the charge till checking in. Checked in and since my hands were full with luggage thought I could easily go to room and pay for parking on my phone from the room. There was no QR code for that in room or on Marriot app. So, I had to go back to lobby scan code at front desk and pay that way. Inconvenient. Then when we woke up, I wanted to order coffee and food. Again, no menu or reading materials present in room. I went to TV directory and menu unavailable for room service or restaurant. I had to get dressed and go down to the restaurant and order coffee and breakfast. Inconvenient once again. There should be proper instructions for parking and for hotel services readily available in room. This was very disappointing. We have stayed here before and this was not the same enjoyable experience we have had in the past.

Room was large and clean. Staff was friendly. This hotel was historically one of the finest in NJ. The property overall was very tired and dirty. Also not happy with the surprise charge for overnight parking fee of $24 daily which was NOT listed on the Hotels.com site. ( only said parking available). I would NOT have chosen this property if I knew about the parking fee. Very disappointed and a waste of my reward points on this booking.
