The most beautiful hotel perched on cliffs out of the crowded cities but close to wonderful beaches restaurants wineries and close enough to Sintra, caiscais and about 45 minutes to Lisbon. Hotel is a castle-ish perched on a cliff with a Michelin star restaurant, quaint bar, outdoor patio, ample charming sitting areas, breakfast room all facing the ocean hence views for days. Food, cocktails (their home sangria amazing) and breakfast all wonderful. Feels like you’re living in a castle with mordern amenities and most of all spoiled like a queen by the BEST staff. There’s only 22 rooms and you are made to feel like you returned home. Everyone that tended to us made us feel like we were the only ones there. We loved exploring this part of Portugal but could not wait to end our evenings at Fortaleza and begin our day with their incredible breakfast in the mornings. There’s a beach below and another right next to that one where you could rent loungers and umbrellas. Little bar up top to order drinks and eats. Beaches are windy and rough but so beautiful. The beautiful staff always guided us to our other adventures. Rui, Dani, Francisco and all spoiled us. All gave us advice about near by cities, restaurants, wineries, food, and most of all genuine kindness and laughter. My best friend and I both brought our adult daughters and would go back tomorrow. Truly made the most beautiful memories.

"Place was perfect with location and size. The only downfall was how horrible the beds were. We tried all of the beds in the apartment and you could feel the springs. Didn't sleep for days because of it. Other than that, everything was great."
