Blogger Picks: Cartoon Character-Themed Hotels

“Are ordinary hotels starting to feel a bit… well… ordinary? We asked a panel of family and travel bloggers to recommend their favourite themed accommodation, from character-based rooms that’ll wow hard-to-impress kids to colourful, quirky bases that make being a grown-up fun again.

Legoland Malaysia Resort, Johor Bahru, Malaysia
—————————————————-

Chosen by: Sharon from Where’s Sharon?

Legoland Malaysia Resort is the perfect place to go if you are looking to have lots of fun! There are some great amusement park rides, live shows, 4D films and many Lego-related activities. There’s also an adjoining water park. It’s especially a great place to visit if you are travelling with kids, but adults will love it too. Here’s my full review.”

Hotel Universal Loews Portofino Bay, Orlando
————————————————-

Chosen by: Jane from Northern Mum

“My three are huge fans of Sam I Am, and Thing 1 and Thing 2. After a recent trip to Universal Studios, they became besotted with Dr. Seuss Land and are desperate to return to stay in the fantastic Dr. Seuss suite at Portofino Bay Hotel. Don’t be mistaken by thinking it is just for kids. The rooms are pure luxury and big budget – so we may need to keep saving!”

Drayton Manor Hotel, Staffordshire
—————————————

Chosen by: Hayley from Sparkles and Stretchmarks

“When my eldest son was two years-old, he was absolutely besotted with Thomas the Tank Engine, and so we decided to treat him with a birthday trip to Thomasland at Drayton Manor Park. We chose to pay a little extra for a Thomas themed room at the Drayton Manor Hotel and it was worth every penny.

“The theme begins in the entry hall with a train track carpet leading up to the door. Once inside, it is every Thomas fan’s dream come true! The room is themed from floor to ceiling in true Sodor Style, with the highlight being the Thomas face bunk beds and the inbuilt TV/DVD players – you can hire Thomas movies from reception for your little one to watch in bed. You even get a VIP Thomas bundle including a story book, Thomas toothbrush and Thomas toothpaste! Well worth a visit for any little steamie!”

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Florida
———————————————

Chosen by: Jo from Kiddie Holidays

“I love the sound of Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, which is a movie themed resort close to Walt Disney World in Florida. Fans of Disney classics such as Toy Story and 101 Dalmatians will love spending their holiday with larger-than-life versions of the Dalmatian puppies and the toys from Andy’s bedroom. Plus, there’s a Fantasia-inspired swimming pool and regular Movies Under the Stars nights where you can rest after busy days exploring the theme parks around Florida.”
