Be sure to pack walking shoes and join one of the cycling tours and culinary tours.
Be sure to take your tastebuds on a journey through the culinary traditions of Sichuan. You'll see that poultry and tofu are regularly used components in typical local foods. Don't wrap up your time in this region without checking out kung pao chicken as well as Sichuan hot pot.
Language is an excellent tool to use to break down cultural barriers, so be sure to pack some everyday Mandarin phrases in the weeks before you leave. Why not say "Nǐ yào bú yào gēn wǒ tiàowǔ" This is the Mandarin way to say "Would you like todance with me?" And, for "This gentleman/lady will pay for everything", you can use "Zhèiwèi xiānsheng huì qīngdān" Don't be shy, just give it a go!
When your time is up in Ziyang, use the last of your renminbi on last minute keepsakes and bid a fond Zàijiàn (farewell).
