Zermatt is one of the most expensive towns in the entire world. Thanks to Expedia, we got this hotel on a special deal at half the normal price. The hotel is located within easy walking distance from the train station. Even these two seniors had no trouble walking there with our luggage in tow. We spent two nights at the hotel while walking and hiking during the day, also traveling by cog train to Gornergrat, where we had a glorious view onto the mountain range that included the iconic Matterhorn. Since the hotel is so centrally located, we had no trouble finding our way around the city, the shops, the numerous fine restaurants. At first we were a bit worried that the "Best Western" brand would put us in some nondescript cookie cutter hotel building. What a pleasant surprise to find ourselves in a beautiful Swiss chalet, a room with balcony and flowers. The breakfast buffet offered amazing variety. The restaurant served exquisite food. The staff was friendly and helpful from beginning to end. All in all a fabulous experience!

Would definitely stay here again. Great view of the Matterhorn from the room. Having a heated bathroom floor is a nice touch. Staff was very helpful and spoke English. Restaurants were very good as well. Could easily walk from the train station however it snowed the night before we left so we decided to use the hotel porter to drive us there instead.

The Hotel Bristol is about a 10 minute walk from the train station. The hotel is modern with a rustic feel. The staff was helpful and courteous. They even made reservations for us at a hotel outside of town. We slept soundly and could not hear any noise from the streets, even though the hotel is located on a corner. The breakfast was great, and the staff knowledgeable on things to do locally. We would stay here again.

Everything about our stay was spectacular. The staff is nothing short of amazing, I can't say enough about how helpful and knowledgeable they are.
I travel every week for business and stay in some exceptional properties but I have to tell you the staff and facilities are second to none. It wasn't cheap but then again you get what you pay for. I will be back next ski season........for sure.

We were able to walk easily to the hotel from the train station....and onwards to any of our activities. Nice that it was off the main drag as the number of tourists in town was astronomical. Great view of the Matterhorn from the back of the hotel and from the breakfast buffet area.

At the foot of the Matterhorn Mountain, the car-free Zermatt is home to more than 300 km of ski slopes and captures both mountaineers and hikers for the Haute Route leading from Mont Blanc to Zermatt. Visitors may enjoy a ride with the cog railway up to Gornergrat Mountain with its shopping mall on top. Get schooled at the Matterhorn Museum, or a tour glacier paradise.
