This is my second stay there. One thing that need to be improved is renovation as hotel is very old. House keeping does not fill room with coffees, teas when it's run out. Restaurant serves breakfast at 7 but staff does not come until 7:40. No beach towels even though hotel is closer to the beach. Those things need some improvement but other than that the area around hotel is nice, the old charm of the hotel is beautiful. But it looks like when staff see gay couple traveling together they gave you very unpleasant look

I am very concerned with the experience you had at our Hotel.I appreciate that we offered you a free upgrade to a superior room as you are our repeat guest, thus in regards of the breakfast starts only at 7:30am and not at 7:00am just in case you need early breakfast to be sent in the room or take away always request at front desk as we do have 24/7 front desk and our associate will be happy to serve you. Concerning the beach towel we do offer them and this is available at the swimming pool. Hence for the coffee and tea facilities to be refilled our housekeeping refilling them while cleaning the room during the day in case you need some more I recommend you to call the reception No. zero “0” from your room there is always housekeeping on duty and they will get it refilled so quick.However “But it looks like when staff see gay couple traveling together they gave you very unpleasant look” We do strive to take good care of our guests inequality and maybe we did not meet your expectations during your stay but I assure you we are only happy when each and every guest of ours leave happy.I sincerely hope to welcome you back again Regards

Poor manager decisions
Hotel overbooked, they had us going to a temporary stay, and then after one night coming back to the original hotel. How uncomfortable is having to check-out and check back in interrupting your stay/holidays. I was there for three days, and it ruined my entire second day for having to change hotel due to they overbooked. I booked my stay ahead of time, so it was not a last minute booking, no excuses.

The location is absolutely perfect for anyone who wants to walk around Stonetown. Several wonderful cafés and restaurants are nearby and pretty much everything is walking distance. The Beyt is an older simpler hotel much like Tembo House hotel. But everything is clean and good condition. Breakfast is simple but more than enough. The staff are friendly and sweet — a big thanks to Diana for making my check in and check out fast and easy!

The AC wasn't working and the plumbling in the room wasn't working and they couldn't put me in another room because they said they were sold out. I wanted to move to another hotel because I was not staying in those conditions they had the audacity to charge me for one night even though it was their fault I couldn't stay there. Never will I be looking at the hotel again. Never again.

I was seeking a charming boutique hotel for my stay in Stonetown, and Beyt Al Salaam exceeded my expectations. The staff were courteous and attentive, and went over and beyond. They all delivered exceptional service. As a single female traveler I felt safe and welcomed. I highly recommend this property and hope to return to Zanzibar and will definitely select this property again. Thank you to everyone of you and keep up the great work. Excellent boutique hotel
Very comfortable and well-equipped room (aircon, fridge, kettle), serviced daily. Super friendly and helpful staff. Lovely restaurant in the hotel where breakfast served and other meals available. Excellent wifi. Cherry on the top was the swimming pool. Conveniently located with easy access to beach and Stonetown. Would happily stay here again.

The property is in a quieter part of Stone Town but easily walkable to everything. I was disappointed with a ground floor room, meaning I couldn't open windows or curtains due to lack of privacy. It was a bit noisy to be directlya cross from Reception as well. On arrival, I was moved to another hotel for my first night because there was no room for me. I noticed other customers also had issues with mgmt and booking confusions, so I think systems could be improved - though this might also be a problem with Expedia. Overall, the room itself was nice and staff were pleasant.

First of all I would like to thank Hamim and Khadija for the amazing treatment… To be honest all the staff were so nice and friendly even the lady who served the breakfast she was amazing and very nice The hotel very clean and the location is amazing and close to everything we need …. The breakfast so delicious and has many options … the room very comfy and has tea and water and coffee all the time … bathroom very nice style and very big and clean has too many types of shampoos and towels …. A darling smaal hotel. Woody, a la colonial feel. Tremendous bathroom. Perfect location. Can wander across the street to use the terraces of the much more expensive hotels. An additional charm is the swimming pool, hidden in a lovely garden a few blocks away.

Beautiful spacious room, mostly quiet except for early mornings when the taxis park nearby the hotel and open and close the doors. Lovely breakfast. Wifi was mostly working. Warm water was an issue. Was always fixed within a few minutes but still unpleasant when you can’t just take a shower whenever you want. Room description was not accurate. The room did not have a king size bed.

Best quiet little hotel in Stonetown
Lovely gem in the middle of Shangani just steps from the beach, near all the great restaurants, the street shopping, and down the road from the famous night market. The ground floor has a fantastic restaurant and a very good spa. The wifi was fast and the staff went out of their way to take care of us. It was nice to stay in a smaller hotel with a more local feel.

Great place!
We stayed at this lovely boutique hotel where the staff were fantastic, especially Bianca and Rukia, who went out of their way to help us. The room was lovely, but it had a major problem with the electrics and a leak in the bathroom. They didn’t have any other rooms available at the hotel, so they moved us to the Doubletree next door. Despite the inconvenience, the staff were amazing and did everything they could to keep us happy, so thank you! Great location and good food too. Highly recommended!

Decent value for the price
It is called a Boutique Hotel, which I guess means small and old. The "ornate bathroom" was just oddly assembled, with only the basics provided. There was something stuck in the sink and I called attention to it in a note to housekeeper but it was not cleaned out. The spaciousness of the rooms was nice but not altogether easy to use. WIFI was intermittent, perhaps due to a fair amount of rain. The bed was very comfortable, and the AC worked well in our room. The people were helpful and friendly. In the restaurant the breakfast was fine. Their famous coconut crab soup was wonderful. And Amina, a server in the evening, was totally delightful and conversational!

Great location, definitely not a 4 star. But excellent location and good rooms (stayed in superior). good breakfast. Be aware there's no lifts. A real gem well worth the price! Good wifi and TV in room.

This hotel does not work with online bookings. We arrived early and were told room not ready. When we return we were told that they have stopped selling online and that they were fully booked even though our reservation was confirmed and pre-paid through hotels.com - we had to spend the night finding another hotel! Not acceptable.

Igood value. have dined at tge outstanding restoin this hotel over tge tears and finslly, the price on a room dropped low enough that I took a room 4 one night. The decor is bery atmosphetic---Arabian Nights---, but the rooms are dated. Fabulous bathroom with an Arabic-arch shower, but otherwise not a good value. And the stairs up to the 2nd floor are quite steep---a real struggle with bsggage. Superb breakfast and friendly and accommodating staff.

Good room and location
I stayed 2 nights at this hotel. - check-in seemed a bit complicated. I had to show my booking confirmation as proof that I had paid already. Also, when I signed the check-in document from the hotel, I noticed the room number was not what I had asked for (they had put me on first floor when I had booked a superior room which was on the higher floors). I mentioned it to them and was then put in the correct room - A/C in the room worked well. The room was clean and comfortable, although the bed was a bit high! - kitchen staff was incredible. The lady who worked there was very kind and helpful - they were very kind to let me check-in earlier I would stay there again.

Zanzibar Visit
Bey al Salaam is conveniently located in a quiet close to the airport and is within walking distance of many sites around stonetown. The hotel is well maintained and the rooms are very comfortable and have been decorated with local culture rather than being a standard hotel. The staff were more than happy to help with requests and ensure that stay was comfortable. The food offered was good when tak,although I believe that whe coamped to other local restaurants then the costs fro hotel is higher and did not offer the high quality of elsewhere.

We loved everything about this hotel! The location, the building, and the furnishings were lovely, the breakfast was delicious and the staff were amazing. We cannot recommend this place enough.

Decent hotel
This is a very decent hotel, especially for the money. Not quite boutique as advertised but good overall. It's situated near the Hyatt and other bigger hotels in a quiet area of town. We stayed in the ground floor room, just off the reception area, but wasn't disturbed by any noise. Reasonable size room with fridge, quiet aircon, tea/coffe facilities etc. Nice dining area and with a good choice of breakfast items and tasty and well presented. It's just a short walk to the beach and plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Also close walking distance to the fort, house of wonders and major attractions. Would stay here again.

We thought the old building was very characterful, and despite being on the top floor facing the afternoon sun, the air con managed the 34 plus degree fairly well. The staff were charming, and Germana was very helpful. Our lunch of squid and octopus was excellent, though we thought it pricey overall - but then you're in a near-waterfront locale where Hilton and Doubletree are neighbours...

Small. But kind.
People were helpful but sometimes there was nobody in reception. So when I needed something, I should wait. Room was clean as much they can. But there was no amenities what they wrote it in website. Even I booked 2 rooms for 4 people, 1 room was so small. It was for single. Bed was so small for two. nevertheless, People were kind and restaurant was so nice and perfect.

Express stone town perfectly
Beyt is very much like stone town,it has style, is slightly scruffy but clean, friendly and helpful. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. I am very happy to recommend this hotel

It was a nice stay and in a nice part of Stone Town (we had stayed before in a not so nice part). Close to boutique shops and within walking distance from the water. Pleasant restaurant and rooms with an old charming feel. Nice staff. Only problem came on the last day when we were double-charged for the taxi ride to the airport (we realized that after we got home).
