Convenient to Paklenica NP and relaxing location
This hotel was a little hard to find at first, due to the way addresses work in Croatia. There was ample off-street parking and a little beach nearby. The front desk lady was friendly and helpful - she gave us an excellent restaurant recommendation (Restoran Pumpurela). This place (Vinjerac) has a very chill seaside atmosphere. The hotel is right on the edge of the water, next to a couple of restaurants and a small market. Our room at Tamarix was basically a studio apartment with a kitchen, queen bed, a desk, and a fold-out double bed. It was spacious and clean, with tile flooring throughout. Some quirks of this property: 1) we were located right next to the front desk, so we heard all the conversations and activity; 2) the bathroom did not have an exhaust fan, just a high window that opened into the lobby area; 3) the room AC was remote-controlled and worked wonderfully; 4) there was nowhere to put toiletries in the shower except the floor; 5) we were given an actual metal room key and building key. We enjoyed the 14-hour storm that occurred while we were there - from about 8pm until 10am the next morning, even with the occasional brown-outs. We woke up really early and watched the lightning play across Paklenica/Velebit mountains across the bay, which we explored the day before and after the night we stayed here. Visit Paklenica National Park and the Vecka Kula castle ruins if you stay here. We would happily return for a longer stay.

Peaceful village off the beaten track
A quaint picturesque property In a small village on a bay With excellent service. Parking can be a challenge if you Have a large vehicle. Best grilled Octopus ever in one of Just three restaurants in town.

Lovely apartment with amazing views
The apartment is located in a real quiet village. Not too far from the A1 it is great for a stopover or a short relaxing break. The apartment was large (would sleep 5) and had a fully functioning kitchen. The views from the apartment are amazing and the owner was very helpful.

The apartohotel is right on edge of lake in small village. Beautiful area, and very quiet. It's perfect if you are travelling as we were and have a access to s car. The room was good - clean with small kitchen area. We kept the window open just to listen to the waves! Only negative the hotel needs better signage - entrance is from a side door so took a while to locate.

Spotless studio with brilliant view
We arrived late at night but were still warmly greeted and shown our spotless room with its amazing view out over the water. The beach is literally a 2 minute walk away, and there is a great little local shop selling fresh food just a minute away. Lovely place and lovely people - especially Milica in the hotel who was so helpful - thank you/hvala!

Tranquil and unspoilt village apartment with views
Tamarix is a set of great apartments in Vinjerac which is a quiet village near to Posedarje. The windows of our apartment looked right out onto the marina and mountains beyond. We tried three of the local restaurants and all were great, the local bars are quiet places to relax. The owners are very friendly and the service was excellent.

A hidden gem on the Croatia coast
I was looking for a place to stop for the night when driving back from Dubrovnik to Budapest, somewhere near Zadar. This came up when I was searching and it looked nice. It turned out to be a great find. A lovely small town, not too crowded with tourists which we were tired of, and beautiful scenery. It's a quiet town but a great place to relax. The hotel has apartments and since we had three people, we had a once bedroom apartment which was perfect for us (it slept at least 3!) It had a kitchen and bathroom, and faced the sea. The staff were lovely and set up a beautiful breakfast for us outside facing the harbor in the morning. We really loved this special place. Lovely walks, great sunset. Definitely would return.

An absolute haven.. I LOVED this apartment. Spacious, airy, perfect view. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. The host is lovely. Hands down the biggest surprise of my trip- amazing value too. The town is very quiet and untouched by tourists which was great- restaurant was good- but expensive and the local caffe bar was cheap as chips!!

Lovely quiet location, ideal for chilling.

Great night in Vinjerac at the Tamarix
This was a nice surprise visit to a quiet and beautiful town/village on the Adriatic. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable for us and each of our rooms had windows overlooking the sea. We needed to find a quiet, secluded stop during our hectic two-week vacation throughout Croatia and this one night at the Tamarix was just perfect! Lovely hosts too!

Ridiculously hard to find!!
This hotel needs directions with it. We spent over an hour driving around until we finally found a gas station where we bought a map and talked to the attendant. Even then it was hard to find! No signs anywhere...even the hotel sign is not immediately visible when you're on the street. All that being said, we loved the place. The owner is nice, the room was very comfortable and the little village was charming.

Beautiful apartment in a beautiful village
I chose Vinjerac as the central "base camp" location between Starigrad Paklenica, Zadar, Pag, Vir, Nin. It was the perfect location. Stayed at Tamarix for 7 nights. A well maintained apartment that had everything I needed, kitchenette, lounge, bathroom, bedroom. The apartment was cleaned daily. The staff were just wonderful people. The views from my room were stunning. Right on the water with the amazing Paklenica backdrop. The village itself was beautiful. At night it was wonderful to open the windows and listen to the music and singing coming from the nearby konoba. This simply added to the atmosphere of the quaint little village.

A great place to relax
I stayed at Tamarix in early July and have nothing but good things to say about the place. The apartment was to a high standard and offered good value for money. The staff were so friendly and helpful and location was incredible. What a view! I would highly recommend staying here to anyone and looking forward to returning next year.

Very nice hotel ... with fantastic service. The location is right on the waterfront - ocean out front, back dropped by gorgeous mountains. The town itself is very small - with few amenities and a bit of a drive from the next major centre - Zadar. A balcony would have been a wonderful addition.

Great place for a long stay
We only did an overnight on our way to Split however, the hotel staff as very friendly the town was small but beautiful. Wifi was so-so, TV didn't work but who cares really when you have a gorgeous view out your window.

Not in Zadar. Not a true hotel, but nice.
The Tamarix apart hotel is located in a small remote village called Vinjerac, a 40 minute car drive from Zadar. It is hard to find it even during the day and with a Garmin GPS. The room was comfortable and clean, with the window 10 feet apart from the sea. Breakfast is delicious and is served outside, by the sea. Vinjerac is a quiet fishermen village, with a pleasant atmosphere for those willing to rest. But not a good alternative if you - like us - are willing to visit Zadar. I was misled by the advertisement in Expedia in this case. Tamarix is a four star Croatian "Apartmant", which is a type of apart hotel. Therefore, despite what Expedia indicates, The Tamarix is not trully a four star hotel.

We really enjoyed vinjerac. The view was incredible and the town peaceful. You could be one kf few tourists around. There was some confusion over the bill because we had changed our plans due to unforeseen circumstances and the proprietor took time to go over the bill with us which was gracious though our confusion could have been avoided with an up front explanation of what the costs were for Internet, late check out, and breakfast. Still the hotel was very accommodating and we appreciated the cleanliness and solitude.

Easy to see why Tamarix is rated so highly
Waterfront location with wonderful views up the ria and harbour. Well appointed rooms with cooking facilities and fridge. Very comfortable bed, excellent heating supplied via airconditioning system. Marina on reception stayed on beyond the stated time to ensure we checked in. The four travellers opinions on this was that we would like to return and spend a few days there.

After touring Croatia and staying in a lot of 4 star hotels I can say this is 2 star at best. The lady is great and very helpful the place is very clean but that is it, location is very quiet although the local restaurant is fabulous and we had a great meal. I don't see how the place has achieved 4 stars compared to other places I stayed.

Nice quiet place to stay near Pag and Zadar
The room was like a one bed apartment. Bigger than a hotel room with a small kitchen. It was very comfortable - our room was right on the water and it was very quiet. It was just right for the two of us as we brought our own coffee and some coffee cake. The apartment-hotel complex was in a lovely fishing village. There was a nice restaurant just a 5 minute walk away but it was only open from 4 pm.

The room was light and airy - facing west for some spectacular sunsets! The bed was actually a sofa bed but nevertheless was large and comfortable - if a little high.The proprietor and staff were very friendly and anxious to please. They were also multi-lingual. The harbour itself is very quiet and access was a little 'interesting'. Convenient for the island of Pag and the town of Zadar.

We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to those seeking a more peaceful location then staying in the busy cities. The larger cities are close enough to drive to but the hotel is far enough away to enjoy a peaceful swim and dinner with out all the crowds after the day spent with all the tourists in Zadar.

Charming fishing village in Vinjerac
Finding the hotel is difficult. There are no signs visible from the road. This hotel is approximately 25k from Zadar. There is only one restaurant in Vinjerac but it is excellent. Vinjerac is a charmoing fishing village but only feasible if you have a car.

We wanted a hotel that was in the heart of a small fishing village, this provided this and much more. With stunning views of the Croatian coastline, this hotel looked back at the coastline we had driven down. The small village still offered a cafe for beer and wine, a restaurant and store. The hotel rooms are large and beautifully presented. We enjoyed our stay here.

Small house in an idyllic fishing village
Located directly on the harbor and 50 meters from the small quiet beach. Rooms are big and very clean. The boss speaks Croatian, English, German and French. Very quiet little romantic fishing village with several good restaurants and a small grocery store. No ATM and no currency exchange in town! Well suited for romantics, honeymooners and peace seekers! The nearest major city is Zadar. The owner attaches importance to direct payment in kuna or euro, no credit card required. The view of the Velebit mountains is fantastic.
