"Great service for dinner - I was 10 mins late for the kitchen for dinner but they re opened for me
Would have been so easy to send me to McDonalds but really appreciated the chef coming out and personally offering his help"
"Excellent room facilities. Reception staff very helpful. It was great to be able to leave luggage with reception owing to early arrival & later departure by train.
Although breakfast was classed as complimentary, there was a very good choice of cereals, juice, breads etc. The only slight disappointment was with the quality of the cooked breakfast available, largely basic catering products.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, location excellent for the centre of York & convenience of the railway station.
We would certainly stay again."

"This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. I've stayed in a lot of hotels that cost a lot more, but were nowhere near as nice as the Grand. It is just a five-minute walk from the rail station, which was very convenient. The York city wall is literally across the street and gave wonderful views of the skyline. Easy walk into the city centre. The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was divine - very large, beautiful marble, instant hot water. My husband and I said repeatedly that we could live there."
"Lovely room, clean and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I ate breakfast and evening meal in the hotel, and used the hotel bar, all of which was excellent. The best location for seeing the city in my opinion. My only 'negative' comment is that, in my room, the windows overlooked the park opposite and, because off single pane sash windows which didn't close fully, with only secondary glazing over these, it was quite noisy at night as those enjoying the night life returned to hail a taxi opposite the hotel. Other rooms could well be different and a lot don't overlook the park. "
