The guy on the reception in the late evening with the hair tied back was great, sadly I didn't catch his name. Very helpful with suggesting where to park the car with a disabled badge. He went out of his way to be helpful. The guy on the bar was also very friendly too. Between the two of them they restored my faith in Germany after a few bad experiences elsewhere earlier in the day. We'll absolutely be staying at the Mercure next time we're in Duisburg.

Friendly staff - slightly dated hotel.
Nice stay - and staff were helpful on what to do in Duisburg. Hotel swimming pool and sauna were not available when we stayed

Breakfast is extremely expensive at 22 Euros. You can eat dinner for less. Parking is somewhat a hassle as it's sub use of parking lot and getting the payment for it not clear up front. For the price you can stay in Dusseldorf or between for less and take the train which is right by the hotel and use Uber or Taxi. Best part was the staff. Very helpful. Any major question or problems you need to talk with management in the morning , which I think you might have to get in line.

Not the best hotel in Duisburg
We stayed for 1 night in July. The restaurant was closed, the swimmimg pool was closed, the bar was closed. We were not informed of any of this until we arrived. I like Mercure hotels, but not the Duisburg one.

The air conditioning did not work. staff was super friendly. Possibility of using the pool and sauna Amazing for children! Highly recommended place to stay. Unfortunately, parking by the hotel is paid. 12 euro per 24 h. Otherwise highly recommended, safe affordable place to stay for families.

Overall, good option for families. All four of us were able to stay in the same room with a sofa bed. Sofa bed was made up for us on check in! Parking convenient underneath hotel, 10 Euro per night. Pool nice, bigger than it looks in the pictures. Sauna was hot but there are more seats in the sauna that out for relaxing so keep that in mind. Hotel is a little dated but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, better than most but far from the best. Overall, good location for downtown Duisburg, pleasant stay.

I had a lot of problems at this hotel and if management hadn't talked to me, understood, helped to fix and make up for it, this rating would have been a very negative one. So I won't go into detail of the things that went wrong, but I will give some advice. Ask specifically for a room that is not affected by noise from the gym. Inform yourself on actual restaurant and room service times and availability.

This has become our annual stop over on our return from Poland each year . However no more , Room dusty other peoples rubbish left in fridge , empty bottles left by side of bed. Wont be staying by choice.. last resort only.

Nice comfortable hotel in prime location
I visit Duisburg 3-4 times a year, its a great hotel in a prime location for the city and all it offers. Parking close by and shops a plenty. The only disappointment is the slowness of the bar staff.

Air conditioner included but broken, was never fixed during our 5 day stay. We were given a fan, but had to ask for it. Dirty floors in hallway and elevator took forever, much faster to take stairs. Way too many children running around at all times loudly. I would recommend letting customers know ahead of time that this is a very popular place for families, not ideal for couples. Do not get breakfast here, it is utter chaos, and we had to walk out because there was barely any food (all was eaten and it was not replenished) and no forks to be found. Overall, we were really not happy with the stay, maybe it is good if you have a family. The location was excellent though (right next to the train station) and the staff was very nice and helpful.

We are sorry that our central ventilation break down during your stay and that you had a bad breakfast service and it was too busy and tables were not cleaned up und breakfast buffet was not filled again as usual. We are sorry for the inconveniences we have caused to your and send you our apologize. For the next year we have planed a renovation of rooms and our air condition will be changed into a new system which could be regulated individually. Hotel is easily accessed from the train station. Stayed four nights in a spacious fifth-floor room. Service in the bar was dire but there are plenty of places nearby to go to for a drink.
