Wonderful stay in Bangor-on-Dee
This place was a little difficult to find as the address showing on Expedia is incorrect. It is actually about 10 minutes outside Wrexham in Bangor-on-Dee. This is a lovely converted stable with kitchen and living areas downstairs and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. There is a small store across the road but for more substantial groceries, there is a Tesco in Wrexham. Although on the high street, it is not noisy. Very friendly and helpful owner and a lovely poodle who may come to say hello at reception.

Cosy cottage
Stayed two nights whilst attending the Pony Club Championship. I was upgraded from the studio to a one bedroom cottage, which was lovely. Very clean and all facilities I needed to cater for myself. As the bathroom door opens onto the stairs could be a problem for some i.e. Children or more infirm. Nice little village, local pubs, near a river with riverside walking.

Full of character
We only stayed for a couple of nights, we booked a room, and got a cottage so loads of space. Quirky old building that was warm, clean, comfortable and functional, so suited us perfectly. We would have happily stayed longer

Superb value for money and fantastic service.
I went to Wales Comic Con in nearby Wrexham. All the city centre hotels were booked out so I am glad that this self catering cottage came up instead. There is a very nice mini patio included where I had a wonderful time sitting in an outdoor chair, reading my book, listening and watching the resident sparrows and neighbourhood cat. I even had breakfast outdoors in the same patio and it was absolutely lovely. The nearby hotel and pub offer great service and great meals which are similarly great value for money. The owner was very, very helpful and gave me a lift back into Wrexham on my final day, Sunday as there was no bus service that day.

A Gem
We stayed two nights on one of the stormiest weekends this year and felt thoroughly relaxed! Excellent service, friendly staff. We booked a one bed cottage, (room for a small family as there is a double and single bed upstairs and downstairs a sofa bed), high ceilings, oak beams, appropriate décor and very clean. This is real gem in a crown of Welsh Boarders Countryside. Book now - you won't be disappointed. Matt & Kerrie P.S We have already booked another weekend over Christmas!

Very adequate for our needs
We stayed in the charming 1 bedroom cottage that was very adequate for our needs as we were attending a wedding that meant we were out until the early hours. The facilities are, perhaps, a little tired, the bed creaked at every movement especially whilst getting in and out whilst the thin wall to next door was a trifle worrisome. The owners are lovely people only too happy to assist with where to go what to do etc We didn't pay the extra for a cooked breakfast as there was a cooker with adequate kitchen utensils and I did set the smoke detectors off when using the toaster Value for money? Yes just about Would I stay again if in the area? Yes probably

character hotel with good location
Loved this hotel, old converted stables, the owners kept to the style of the times. We were rather tired after travelling for 5weeks, but found the location just great as we were heading to Whittington for a four day trip on the Llangollen Canal (which was fabulous) - would stay here again if in the area.

Quiet setting
The second floor bedroom had adjoining bathroom and plenty of air circulation. However, the queen bed could use a new mattress and less squeak. A very compact self-serve unit. Two nights were enough.

Great short break destination
I just stayed 1night on business but this was an occasion where that really felt like a lost opportunity. I was in the cottage, a 1bedroom, double plus single, above a lounge and a decent kitchen. Owners were really friendly, village is really lovely, this would be a fantastic place for a weekend or week away

Fantastic!
We were given a cottage for our one night stay as the rooms in the main building were full. It was a lovely little cottage, fully equipped, and we would have been happy to have an extended stay here. The village is lovely with two pubs in different price bands for food. Parking was free and on the road right outside the building. We had to leave early in the morning before the scheduled breakfast time, so the owner brought us bread, yoghurt & milk so we could make our own breakfast (cereal was already in the kitchen). All in all could not fault The Stableyard and would definitely recommend.

A place with great historic character.
Historic building in wonderful location near to the River Dee just over the Welsh border. Room very comfortable and owners very welcoming as was the resident standard poodle. We stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting the Cholmondley Pageant of Power and as usual with B and B's the breakfasts were excellent. Almost opposite were two hotels ( The Royal Oak and The Buck House Hotel) which had very good menus and selections of real ales.

Nice old inn in a picturesque village
The main building of the Stable Yard is an old inn which retains many of the features and charms from 300 years ago. The rooms reflect this, and are basic but reasonably comfortable, Breakfast was ok, and the woman at the front of house was pleasant and friendly.

Cosy, homely and very accommodating
We stayed just 1 night at the Stableyard as a very fleeting pitstop on the way to a wedding in Denbigh. We arrived late (11.30pm!) after a long drive from London, but the hostess was very accommodating. The building was "retro" in decor, but very homely. Our room was more than comfortable and with en suite bathroom. Breakfast was a great fry up- couldn't have asked for more - and service was attentive. We only drove through the area and certainly didn't have time to look around the village, but it seemed lovely and of course the surrounding countryside in that part of the world is beautiful. Excellent value for money.

Little Gem
This is a little gem of a place in a lovely Welsh village . We were a party of 4 friends and we had booked 2 X twin rooms. As there was only 1 twin room available we were all upgraded to the self catering cottages at no extra cost . What's more, we still got breakfast included and it was really good. I would recommend this accommodation highly. I would also highly recommend the evening meals at the Royal Oak which is a short walk across the road.
