Just a short break

Posted 20-Aug-2015
Pros: Attention to detail.
Cons: Little bit dated. Our ceiling leaked after VERY heavy rain....
Location: Good base for touring Suffolk.
Warm welcome and very pleasant attentive staff at all times. This was a break following illness and we do not play golf ! Good English food, nicely served up, not too crowded.

Short stay, wish it was longer

Posted 18-Aug-2015
Pros: Good service, large rooms, very clean.
Cons: The website which disallowed 4 family rooms but was actually accommodated through Expedia.
Location: Suffolk as loads to offer, but we were just visiting friends this time.
Booked into the hotel at short notice. For the price paid, we were expecting something akin to a Travelodge, but we were more than surprised and impressed. We booked a family room which, according to the website could only sleep 3, but through Expedia found it could sleep 4. We were concerned that Expedia could be wrong but lo and behold, there was a (very large) king bed plus two singles in the room when we arrived. Though we only made use of the pool facilities in the short time we were there, we would have liked longer. We'll definitely book here if and when we're in the area once again.

Excellent for golfers.

Pros: Casual dining with friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast well organised and tasty.
Location: The pretty beach resorts Southwold and Alderburgh are a short drive away.
Clean, modern and easy to find hotel but ceiling fan did not help reduce the heat in the bedroom. Liesure facilities including a spa with early opening times for a swim before breakfast.

Good location, helpful staff

Posted 15-Jul-2015
Pros: Location and setting. Swimming pool.
Cons: Cleanliness in bedrooms, although the 3rd room was fine
Location: Rural location but near to attractive small town. Close to the coast and river estuaries. Good area for walking. Sutton Hoo is close by.
We went to stay as a surprise for my husband's birthday. The first room was disappointing, it was dirty and at £120 a night i was surprised ar how small it was for a family of 4. The second room was not much better and only had 3 beds in it. At this point i was pretty upset and went back to complain again. This time we were upgraded to a much larger room with a four poster bed and much more space. Although this took the shine off the start of our stay the rest of it was pleasant. The staff in every part of this hotel were friendly and very helpful. When we pointed out that my daughter's fried egg was not cooked they were very apologetic and brought her a whole new plate of food. The pool was nice and my children loved it but we were disappointed that on the Saturday morning we were unable to swim as the pool was full due to a class taking place and the hot tub was out of action. The breakfast was really good.

A pleasant hotel. Room was quite comfortable with enough space for a family of 4. Decor in some parts needs updating. Lovely breakfast.

Good value but expensive food

Lovely setting, good food but small portions for the cost, good and helpful staff but beds VERY hard. Paid £100 for a family room - good value.

Very helpful and friendly staff. The interior could do with a facelift and swimming pool area needs attention as very old looking and grubby. Food average
