"A cozy, quaint B&B, perfect for "
If you want a modern, faceless hotel with all the amenities, this isn't the place for you. However, if you want a quirky, character laden B&B with uneven stairs, sloping floors & creaking floorboards, then book this place without any hesitation!
There's no reception area, you see the barman who takes your booking details, how good is that?! Access to the rooms is via narrow staircase with uneven steps which creaked, after all this is a 17th century coach house. We had room 7, the smallest room, but again, the character shone through, I loved the uneven, sloping floor!
As we were on a city break, the Crown & Cushion served it's purpose very well. The hearty breakfast sets you up for the day, the owner was very friendly, and gauging from the guests' conversations, they all loved it there, too. We frequented the bar one night, and again, the staff & bar customers were engaging, although after a couple of G&Ts I was ready for bed.
Would we go back there again? Definitely. Already looking at a Christmas weekend. I'll put it this way, we won't be staying in a Travelodge next time we visit.
