Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities
The property is very outdated and in dire need of a deep clean. Some of the issues were that of a leaking sink, peeling wallpaper and a very old, uncomfortable and squeaky bed. What mad this worse was by the rudeness by the owners, when we emailed highlighting the leaking sink and other issues, we received an email back stating, ‘I hope this answers all your questions, but if your still not happy feel free to check in at the youth hostel.’

A visit back to a simpler time
As I sit in the Premier Inn not one evening after our visit to Crompton house, I feel comfort in knowing that the lobby doesn't smell like a retirement home, and that the bathroom doesn't have carpet. Crompton house, whilst technically a hotel in the practical sense, felt more like a visit back to a simpler time, where people would assume a certain standard for hotels and because there wasn't internet, no one would know any different until it was too late.

Good location, great value
We had a one night 4oom only midweek stay here and it was absolutely fine. Excellent value for money for the price we paid which was significantly less than other B&Bs in the area. The room was well appointed and well furnished. There were tea and coffee making facilities and although we didn't need it, there was a sign up to say that ironing facilities were available if needed. The room and communal areas were clean and tidy. The hotel is a 5 minute walk downhill into Bowness so it's close enough for convenience but far enough away that it's easy enough to find on street parking if there is no space on the small car park at the front of the hotel. Granted, there only seemed to be a staff member on site during the allotted check-in times but that wasn't an issue as the owner/manager was responsive to contact. Slight issue that the room key was in the wrong place when we checked in but there was a man on hand to sort it quickly. No complaints whatsoever. Excellent value for money
