Lovely location and friendly staff!

Posted 06-Oct-2016
My partner and I stayed at the Riverbarn Guest house for a wedding, the staff couldn't have been more helpful finding us taxi numbers and even offered to give us a lift to the wedding venue! We were leaving early in the morning to catch a flight and they asked us if we wanted to order breakfast before we went out so it would be ready in time before we left early in the morning. The room itself was clean, cozy and had everything we needed for our short stay. Would definitely recommend!

Spent a happy night here. Pleased to find somewhere in the area that would accept a one night stay. Lovely setting and friendly people. Excellent breakfast.

Nice country hotel

Posted 27-Oct-2015
Pros: Peaceful location, in a science setting.
Cons: The bathroom shower needs upgrading.
Location: A car is necessary to access lovely country walks in Westbury. Stonehenge close by. Ideal base for local walks and sightsee further by car.
A lovely quiet hotel for a peaceful weekend stay. Friendly helpful hosts. Booked the evening meal and was so glad as it was an evening of amazingly good food, outstanding.

A lovely little find

Posted 13-May-2014 on Hotels
Located in beautiful surroundings, Ian and Jill (and Ted the dog!) give a very warm welcome and are more than happy to give details of things to do in the area. Rooms have a cottage feel and are lovely and peaceful. Will definitely be back!

A great place for a countryside vacation

Posted 06-May-2014
The place is lovely and peaceful, the hotel staff is kind and welcoming, and the breakfast is delicious. Oh, and have dinner at least once in the hotel restaurant, the young chef's preparations are amazing. The room wasn't gigantic, but that's OK, we didn't really need more.

Remote and peaceful but close to famous sights

Posted 19-Jul-2013 on Hotels
The room was nicely decorated and as it is all groundfloor with a direct door to the backyard and garden there were no steps to climb with the luggage. Definitely try to have dinner there as the junior chef is well known for its cuisine. Warm, light and cozy the atmosphere in the restaurant., Relaxing the back garden with loan down to the river. Just 20min from Stonehenge and Stourhead or within 5-10min to Wilton House or Salisbury and Wardour Castle Ruin. Village Fonthill Bishop is very quiete and remote.
