Less than Inspiring
Hotel is tired looking with basic facilities in the rooms. Service was offhand and less than welcoming. The dining room was cold. Breakfast was adequate and the coffee good. Dinner was less than inspiring; large choice on the menu but the food was bland and uninteresting. Major plus point - lovely location by the river.

Great Place to Stay!
What a beautiful and convenient place to stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The property was well kept, the grounds lovely, the food delicious and the rooms comfortable and spacious. Parking was convenient. I would definitely stay again.

Excellent stay
Enjoyed our stay, very convenient for Salisbury. The room was excellent with lovely views over river. Breakfast was really good, plenty to choose from.

Beautiful setting with view of river amd Cathedral. The room was spacious and clean however a little shabby and dated. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and could do with replacing. It had sunk on both sides where it was so worn. The room was also very noisy. You could hear every word spoken from the room above and every footstep which was not the best at 4am hearing someone use the bathroom. We were also a little annoyed haveing pre booked a table in the restaurant to have been placed in another room to eat which was like sitting in the local village hall. We lived the setting and it could have been so good. Shame.

Review December 2023
This is our 4th visit to the Rose and Crown and as previous visits we were made to feel welcome. Staff all lovely and friendly and very helpful. Room was lovely and bed comfortable. We didn’t eat at the hotel this time.

Definitely not worth staying, grubby and in poor condition. Had to return a bath towel that had something disgusting on, didn't get much of an apology, grab rail on bath dangerous as coming out of the wall, awful place

Two night stay.
The room was bigger than I expected and I was very pleased to find a super king size bed which was extremely comfortable. Extra tea,milk etc were available at reception and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The room we stayed in was very quiet, no late or early disturbance which was nice. My only negative was that two ceiling spotlights needed replacing which made the room a bit gloomy in the evening.

Great location for walking into Salisbury, plenty of parking and a good size room with lots of storage space and a proper wardrobe. We also had a great view across the river. Check-in was a little confused with (presumably) a trainee receptionist. Breakfast on Saturday was a long-drawn out affair as everything kept running out - we had to wait a long time for hot water to make our own tea and then another long wait for the scrambled eggs to be replenished. The toasting machine was also not working correctly and didn't cook the bread at all or burnt it. The two members of staff on duty seemed to stand around a lot rather than actually trying to make the situation better.

Wonderful location on the River Avon, close to Salisbury Cathedral. Room was quiet, cosy and clean. VIP breakfast very much appreciated. Loved how the old coach inn was incorporated into this facility.

will be back again...again
This is a quintessentially charming hotel, with stunning beams and old-decorated doors, the bar area is cosy and the food delicious, the only reason I gave a slightly lower score on cleanliness, was the fact the toilet rim was very dirty and the sink waste was partly blocked, so took a while for the water to drain.... But that all I could find wrong, the reception was warm and easy to check in, and it was nice having free parking too. A must-visit if only to look around the place and have a nice meal overlooking the river Avon
