"Perfect Experience, Like staying with friends."
Going down the long driveway and coming to a weathered small building gave me some concern. However, being greeted by our host in the drive hours earlier than we were scheduled to arrive was just the beginning of a very pleasant experience. The Dower House is much larger than if first appears. Upon finding the home to be well kept and up to date and very clean the exterior of the home became quaint in my mind. Our rooms where very comfortable. There was plenty available for breakfast. The hosts are extremely hospitable.

"Adequate hotel for one night stay in Warminster. "
Clean room although stairway bit dated and worn. Adequate stay and staff very friendly. There was a disco but unaffected by noise due to being on on third floor. Breakfast was good!

Sarum College

19 The Close, Salisbury - Map

"Perfect place from which to visit Salisbury."
This was the best experience of our four week trip. It is the dormitory of a theological college, so the facilities are a bit spartan, but quite comfortable. We had a room with a beautiful view of the cathedral, which is 200 m away. The wifi is the best I have experienced in a hotel, and there is free parking on site. The staff are all very nice and appear to be associated with the role of the college, so that adds a nice dimension. Very good full buffet breakfast, with interesting people here for theological seminars. The building is inside the Cathedral Close; to enter by car, turn down High Street towards the Cathedral. It looks like pedestrian only, but is used by cars. Otherwise, you will drive around fruitlessly as we did for a while.

Lodge Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast

Broad Chalke, Salisbury - Map

"Spacious and relaxing"
The farmhouse was at least 200yd from the nearest road, making it nice and quiet, but a private signpost made it easy to locate. Janet was welcoming and showed me to my room, which was light and spacious, with all the usual amenities. A tea tray was supplemented by a few wrapped chocolates, further enhancing that welcome feeling. Breakfast was also relaxed, with a chance to meet the other guests and chat for a while, whilst enjoying the view across the fields.

Pocket Guide: Bed and Breakfast Hotels in Wiltshire

Wiltshire is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination among travellers in the UK. Situated in a particularly beautiful corner of the country, the county boasts vast areas of lush, green countryside to complement its wealth of fascinating historical attractions. With so many holidaymakers heading to Wiltshire each year, it's hardly surprising that the county is also home to some excellent guesthouses and hotels. Those seeking a particularly memorable holiday experience can check in to one of the county's many fabulous bed and breakfasts.

    An Intimate Setting

Most people who take a holiday do so in order to unwind and relax. Often, this means going in search of some peace and quiet. There's no doubt that the glorious Wiltshire countryside can offer plenty of tranquillity, but to complete the package it makes sense to book into some quiet accommodation.

While some hotels can be noisy - packed with lots of guests, all keen to have an incredible time - bed and breakfasts typically offer a more intimate setting. With fewer people around to distract you, you can focus on complete and utter relaxation during your time away.

    Top-Class Service

Whether it's a perfectly made cup of tea in the morning or some essential local knowledge from the owners to help you plan your itinerary, excellent service can really make a holiday. As the staff to guest ratio is typically better in bed and breakfasts than in hotels, guests can usually expect a high quality of service.

    Tailored Advice

There's a great deal to see and do in Wiltshire, from the prehistoric sites of Stonehenge and Avebury to the modern shopping centres of Swindon town centre. While this can be seen as a blessing, it can also make it difficult to plan.

Bed and breakfasts allow guests to speak with the local staff members and to share their inside knowledge on the best things to see, and the best times at which to visit. Is Stonehenge particularly busy at sunset? Are the best local sales at Easter or Christmas? The friendly staff members at guesthouses and hotels in Wiltshire can give you access to local information and insights.
