"Ideal base to visit Bath"
Everything about this hotel is exemplary; the location, rooms, restaurant; and above all the warm hospitality and friendliness of the staff. This is no ordinary hotel, it is more like a country residence where you are the guests. There is no 'reception desk' - you check in at the Manager's office where you can take a seat whilst the formalities are done overseen by the house dog who is lying in his basket, a completely docile and friendly hound too chilled to move from his slumber. There are corporate style rooms in the new building but also very individual rooms in the main country house but both can enjoy the extremely comfortable sitting rooms which are very stylised as is the bar and restaurant. The cuisine has Marco's stamp created by his excellent chefs which is extraordinarily good value for the standard. We left vowing to return.

"Lovely B@B close to Stonehenge "
From this charming accommodation we walked an 8mile circuit around Stonehenge, absolutely idyllic. The hotel, in Amesbury, is within minutes of a number of excellent restaurants, La Lupa was especially good. So after a busy day we relaxed in great surroundings. Breakast was great and we will definitely return.

"Week-end Family Visit"
This was our first return visit since changing to new owners. We stayed in the former stable block which was warm and comfortable. The bathroom area was very modern and tastefully presented. One negative was that showering was limited to the bath...although quite spacious! The owners were extremely friendly and the breakfast catered for most tastes...from simple cereals...lots on offer... to full English! Prices were reasonable and I would recommend it for the quality of service and its close location to both town (Melksham) and main arterial routes for the West Country!

"Excellent B&B right on cycle route 4"
It was great to find such an excellent, well located, reasonably priced B&B so close to the Kennet and Avon canal, as we needed an overnight stay while cycling from Newbury to Melksham. The B&B was very clean and comfortable (v comfy beds), in a separate house with its own kitchen in a quiet corner of the pleasant lawned grounds of the thatched Royal Oak pub. The dining room there was very handy for a good veggie burger evening meal (extensive menu for meat eaters, plus huge range of puddings). No issues with noise from the pub. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering to lock our bikes away safely overnight.

Pocket Guide: Bed and Breakfast Hotels in Wiltshire

Wiltshire is becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination among travellers in the UK. Situated in a particularly beautiful corner of the country, the county boasts vast areas of lush, green countryside to complement its wealth of fascinating historical attractions. With so many holidaymakers heading to Wiltshire each year, it's hardly surprising that the county is also home to some excellent guesthouses and hotels. Those seeking a particularly memorable holiday experience can check in to one of the county's many fabulous bed and breakfasts.

    An Intimate Setting

Most people who take a holiday do so in order to unwind and relax. Often, this means going in search of some peace and quiet. There's no doubt that the glorious Wiltshire countryside can offer plenty of tranquillity, but to complete the package it makes sense to book into some quiet accommodation.

While some hotels can be noisy - packed with lots of guests, all keen to have an incredible time - bed and breakfasts typically offer a more intimate setting. With fewer people around to distract you, you can focus on complete and utter relaxation during your time away.

    Top-Class Service

Whether it's a perfectly made cup of tea in the morning or some essential local knowledge from the owners to help you plan your itinerary, excellent service can really make a holiday. As the staff to guest ratio is typically better in bed and breakfasts than in hotels, guests can usually expect a high quality of service.

    Tailored Advice

There's a great deal to see and do in Wiltshire, from the prehistoric sites of Stonehenge and Avebury to the modern shopping centres of Swindon town centre. While this can be seen as a blessing, it can also make it difficult to plan.

Bed and breakfasts allow guests to speak with the local staff members and to share their inside knowledge on the best things to see, and the best times at which to visit. Is Stonehenge particularly busy at sunset? Are the best local sales at Easter or Christmas? The friendly staff members at guesthouses and hotels in Wiltshire can give you access to local information and insights.
