Really nice location, the view from the restaurant and terrasse is breathtaking. Room was hot and without AC but when you open the window there was a lot of wind which fixed the issue and there was no bugs. Food at the main restaurant was expensive but okay with the exception of the dessert that were to be honest bad.

What a fun place to stay!
Unique and beautiful property. Expensive to get back and forth from town. Their restaurant was VERY expensive too. Beautiful place, gorgeous rooms and great staff.

Best place. Great rooms, great view. Dinner was not so good, pick a less costly option in town. Overpriced and staff was stressed. Food ok. Breakfast was fantastic. Great place overall. Stayed early May.

This place doesn’t answer their phones. We tried to call them to get cab from city and they didn’t answer. There were no cabs on street at 5pm. We had to walk and carry luggage up a hill that made my lung disease even worse. They are terrible for people who have disabilities. And have terrible evening customer service.

Schloss Rheinfels is worth leaving the Autobahn
Beautiful location right near the Loreley. The Spa is great and so is the restaurant and breakfast. I really enjoyed it.

This is a beautiful hotel with incredible views. The split mattresses took some time to get used to, but the stay was great and we would do it again in a heartbeat. The food was fantastic and the service staff extremely helpful and friendly.

My favorite place in the world to stay. Room was very spacious and modern. A/C worked great. Restaurant for dinner was amazing, staff was friendly and very accommodating. I loved everything about this place. Castle has changed over the years. You use to have more access, but was a bit dangerous. New museum is a plus, on site souvenirs. Close to fabulous town. Great views.

This is my second time here. This time I had a small single room in the “attic” and it was great . I woke up to a gorgeous view Of the Rhine River . Breakfast is a perfect feast . The pool and spa are fantastic , the grounds are beautiful, and the staff is friendly and helpful .

What a great find! The hotel is awesome and overlooks the Rhine. The rooms are nice and comfortable with everything you would need for a short stay. The restaurant was very nice and the views were amazing. We love the Schönburg Castle Hotel in Oberwesel, it was nice finding this one so close by.

We stayed here for two nights and it was beautiful! Our room had an incredible view of the Rhein and we loved waking up to the sunrise over the valley. The majority of the staff also spoke English, which was very helpful for us, especially when we visited the restaurant for dinner. I will warn guests that there are a number of stairs, so make sure you keep that in mind when booking.

A Night in a Castle
When I got the room little did I know the hotel was actually part of the castle. Magnificent views and amenities although the rooms themselves are a little antiquated. Don't let that steer you away from the fantastic location!

Nice hotel. Right on the Rhine river. Up on a hill, so not easily walkable from the town below. Pool, Sauna and steam rooms were quite nice. Breakfast was above and beyond. Janine was amazing. We were traveling with a couple that had never been to Europe and wanted them to have a view. They did and She upgraded us as well. Very nice

Lovely hotel with excellent views and quality food
Lovely accommodations adjacent to an historic castle. I stayed in a single room on the 4th floor (a.k.a. "attic space") which was perfect for a solo traveler. This compact room offered excellent views of the Rhine River too. One thing about the 4th floor though, you will have to walk up from the 3rd floor as there is no elevator service to the 4th floor. If that is an issue, then simply book a room on the lower floors. The restaurant is excellent but can be busy, so reservations might be necessary on weekends during high season. Breakfast is included and superb. Additionally, their popular outdoor patio cafe with views of the river is ideal for lunch and/or drinks. One caveat though: Sankt Goar is a small town and there is only one taxi service available. Should you need a ride to the top of the hill then it will cost you nearly 5 euros! While there is a 3 euro shuttle bus available, it runs only from 10:00 until 17:00 -- after that you are on your own. And trust me, walking up the hill with your bags is a challenge -- been there and done that. Down the hill is easy though.

The hotel is amazing! The amenities even better!! Something to consider, if arriving by train, Walk to the gas station (.4 away) to grab a taxi.

One-of-a-kind hotel in a 12th century fortress
The hotel is housed in a 12th century fortress on a high bluff overlooking the Rhine River near the Loreley. It is truly a one-of-kind experience. My wife and I stayed at the hotel on our honeymoon and again recently for our 30th anniversary.

Stayed here on business as it was close to where I was working. I would love to return for pleasure. I felt that I was living in a fairy tale land for two days! I did not have enough time to explore enough and most local restaurants were closed; however well recommended. Excellent breakfast

Beautiful Rhine Valley Hotel
Gorgeous views of the Rhine River from this hotel. Excellent for a romantic vacation. Room was clean and exterior of property was beautiful. Hotel had some odd quirks, but is historic.

A quiet location above town beside fortress ruins.
We spent one night here on our way down the Rhine. The hotel was quiet, located above the town itself. The restaurant was very pleasant with great views and good food.

Burg express (shuttle service)to castle was not available on the day we went. Cab up to castle from gas station was €5. Cab from castle to sankt goar train station was €5.30 by metre. Neighbourhood is a quiet town in winter. No portal service in castle. Need to go down and up and down by stairs to exit train station. No lift and no portal service in castle. Castle staff did not know anything about Rhine river cruise for tourist. Did not give Wi-Fi password during check in and can't give through phone. Need to carry luggages 2 floors down to room. No coffee/tea making facilities in room. We did not bother asking for kettle too. Staff not proactive to show us table at restaurant for dinner after we asked for English menu. She just walked away without saying anything. We helped ourselves to a table but was asked to move to another table subsequently without apology. Staff was more interested to reset table which we barely touched than to pass us the English menu at the new table. Food was nice but expensive. Breakfast staff was more friendly and at least smiled when we asked for eggs to be cooked at the egg station.
