Lake Huron Log Cabin #5

White Lake Log Cabin Resort in Whitehall MI, sitting on the edge of a wooded bluff overlooking White Lake, with its five log cabins born in a simpler era, allows you peace and quiet in the rural area of the White Lake Area, as you experience the beauty and simplicity of an authentic log cabin with its gleaming natural knotty pine wood walls. At our 125 feet of lakefront, you will also find another campfire pit and a rowboat's use and life jackets for each cabin.
Within the interior confines of Cabin #5, you will have the ambiance of its gleaming, natural wood walls, open-beamed ceilings, and a fireplace, for which we provide the firewood should you need it, the only source of heat. Dine indoors on the handcrafted wood, leafed table in its Great Room using its kitchen for preparing your meals, using the provided cooking utensils, pots-and-pans, dishes, silverware, coffeemaker, toaster, stove, and refrigerator, or dine outside on your picnic table using the charcoal grill. Each log cabin has indoor plumbing with a shower stall.
Then, within the confines of the "L" formed by our five log cabins, you will find our well-equipped recreation area: campfire pit, shuffleboard, tether-ball, volleyball/badminton, swing set, sandbox, sport building with sink and running water to clean your bevy of fish you caught from White Lake that you have access to, from our 125 feet of lakefront about 100 yards down a single-lane blacktop, across a two-lane blacktop.
While using one of our rowboats, you have the opportunity to catch several of the variety of fish that live White Lake, the mouth of the White River: Wall-eyed and Northern Pike; Lake Michigan Perch; Crappie; Bluegill; Large-mouth, Small-mouth and White Bass. Then, if you hire a charter boat, you can catch big-game fish in Lake Michigan, accessible through an Army Corp of Engineers-maintained channel. No matter what type of boating is your bag, there's plenty of room for it all on 6 x 1 1/2 mile long White Lake, power boating, sail-boating, personal watercraft, pontooning and other water sports skiing and tubing--you choose!
You will have a private cabin with full kitchen, large living space, two bedrooms, and a full bathroom. Outside the cabin you have a private grill, lawn chairs, and picnic table. The common areas include, one resort area fire pit, two beach front fire pits, volleyball/bad-mitten net and equipment, shuffleboard, horseshoes, cornhole, rowboats including life-jackets and oars, and many other outdoor games.
We live nearby and can assist with any requests. We are often on the grounds for clean-up or renovation. All guests receive our cell number for immediate response to questions or requests.

Family Trip
Close drive to hiking trails, responsive to texts when the heater wouldn’t turn on. We couldn’t find the life vests for the row boat - had to borrow from another family.

Great Location for a peaceful escape or local attractions
We had a wonderful time during our visit. The property is conveniently located within a short drive of many great spots, but it is also a nice place to relax and get away. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful to our family. The cabins neighbor one another pretty closely so I was a little worried that my children might be too noisy or that people might get annoyed when our dogs barked at other dogs, but honestly, the whole environment felt friendly. We only ran into the other renters in passing, and mostly had the sandbox, swings, etc. to ourselves. We spent some time playing badminton, and could have enjoyed other yard games, etc. if we didn't have plans to head to Silver Lake and visit a few other stops. Our children loved playing in the water, which is just down an asphalt path and across a road. Just know that the road is really busy so small children can't cross alone, but the water/beach is far enough back from the road that we had no concerns once we were across and we could relax and enjoy a beautiful sunset. The owner provided great suggestions for places to eat and places to visit within thirty minutes. We did most of our cooking ourselves, so I will suggest that if there is something specialized that you need for a meal, this was a very basic (but very clean) kitchen set up and had mostly just the very bare essentials. I had to do some improvising, but that is part of the fun on a trip sometimes. I would assume that most renters are coming to enjoy some of the local amenities and aren't necessarily worried about those things :) We had wonderful trip and would have loved to stay longer. We hope to come back and visit again and to invite some of our family and friends to rent other cabins at the same time.
