The hotel location in historic Wheeling is great, but our room AC did not function and we had to check out a day early because of the high temperature in the room.

The McLure Hotel in downtown Wheeling is very easy on the budget; families and business travelers will appreciate the spacious rooms and the helpful staff. Compared to the large chain outfits, the McLure has a distinctive "this is a real hotel" feeling. Sure, some amenities could use some sprucing up, but the rooms are quite comfortable, free on-site parking is attached, and rates are certainly competitive. Travelers ought to check this hotel out.

property was clean, staff very friendly and accommodating. felt safe, beds very comfortable. close to everything. Needs upgrading, otherwise it was a good experience.

Was a nonsmoking room. When we opened the nightstand between the beds, it was full of cigarette ashes and butts. Bathtub looked like it was given a quick wipe, still had slimy soap scum around drain. Called the front desk to notify them. Stayed two nights, housekeeping came in room to make beds and replenish towels. Housekeeping never touched the nightstand to clean it out. Was supposed to stay three nights, but left a day early due to uncleanliness of room.

The staff was very nice and let me check in an hour early. The room was very clean and bed was comfortable. The only thing is the hotel is a bit dated and could use some paint.

My impression was that this property was lovely at one time, but has since been allowed to slide into neglect and disrepair: loudly dripping bathtub faucet, poorly draining tub during shower, dirty bathtub surface, opened bottle of body lotion left from previous guest, breakfast garbage in lobby not cleared up by evening, nor by next morning, flies buzzing in breakfast area as a result, no hot water available at breakfast. The woman at reception was very pleasant, helpful, and apologetic, and she did her best to mitigate these inconveniences. It was clear that these issues were not her fault, but I know she felt bad that guests were experiencing such things.
