This lady needs a facelift.

Posted 30-Apr-2018
It was as convenient to downtown but this lady needs a facelift. The rooms are furnished with furniture that looks 20 years old and well used. The rooms need to be thoroughly cleaned. I had to plug in my phone charger and was disgusted when I moved the nightstand. Everything needs painted. I only stayed a night but I would stay somewhere else and drive into town until they update this hotel.

too hot to sleep

There is no central air/heat so you're at the mercy of whatever temp the room is at. Windows can be opened but being in town that makes it loud.

Avoid this hotel.

The Mclure is advertised pretty well and has a good history behind it, but in truth it’s a run down dump that’s long past it’s glory days.

Classic Hotel Close to the Casino in Wheeling

Posted 28-Mar-2018
I really enjoyed my stay at the McLure hotel in Wheeling. My room was spacious and everything was clean and in working order. I was on the 6th floor and had a fantastic view of Wheeling Island and the Ohio river. The décor of the hotel has a classical feel of a bygone era, and the furnishings contribute to that feel with their classical lines, no modern plastic feel like you get at a comfort inn. The parking is convenient, you can park on the same level in the parking deck as your room is located. The staff is helpful. I took off a star in the rating for a few reasons. First of all the breakfast offerings are more continental type but adequate, no waffles, pancakes, or sausage and eggs here. Secondly, there is no hotel bar to hang out in. And finally the furnishings show moderate wear. But other than that it was a great stay and I plan on returning. Oh, I felt a warm presence in my room, maybe it was the ghost of Marilyn Monroe.

So Disappointed

Posted 19-Mar-2018
We were not informed that air conditioning would not be available due to the time of year. With no exaggeration, our room was 85 degrees when we returned to it. The Front Desk clerk, Melissa did make it easy for us to check out immediately and get a full refund from Expedia. We had been to the bar/restaurant in previous years, however it is currently closed "pending new management." It was not at all what we expected.

Location good

Posted 19-Mar-2018
Location good for attending entertainment venues in Wheeling. Check in staff was attentive & friendly. The room was spacious but in dire need of update as wall paper was peeling off wall & the furniture was dated & beat up. A great deal of hotel looked tired. Nice to park free and be able to walk to restaurants and venues.

Hot water in shower, clean room, good water pressure, carpet had stains and heating system along with hotel could use an upgrade and move to the modern world. Other than that it was clean and a good place to stay for 2 nights. Would stay here again.
