"The Smugglers Inn was delightful. The staff were all extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Food was excellent, we had dinner there which was really good (advise booking it was full when we were there), and breakfast was great. Delicious choice of different fresh croissants, and fruit and cereal options. Full menu with lots to choose from for cooked breakfast, we had the full english which was scrummy and filling. Room was really nicely decorated, and everything you needed. Big tele! Extensive choice of different tea, coffee and hot chocolate options, and cans of water. Really nice toiletries in the bathroom. Great rainfall shower. Only slight negative was that the room was a quite warm after a hot day, even with the window open. Difficult to know what they could do to help with that in such a lovely old building, have a fan maybe? I couldnt take a star off for it though as it was too nice not to be 5 star! Great spot for a rest after a hard day's walking on the stunning jurassic coast."

"Can’t lie, I was nervous about this stay and worried after reading some of the reviews that when coming down with my child I may have made a big mistake but oh my god how wrong my initial perception was. The pub was lovely and homely, the lady who checked us in couldn’t have been more helpful and showed us to our room. The twin room we stayed in was lovely and clean And we had loads of room to move about. The room also contained sky tv which my daughter loved as she was able to put Cartoon Network on this morning before we got up, we only stayed 1 night but if we had stayed longer it had enough storage facilities to cover staying much longer. Despite karaoke being on at the pub once we went to bed we heard nothing and no noises from outside with the window shut. Beds were clean and comfy and me and my daughter had a great nights sleep. Breakfast next day was lovely and Jon who served us was super helpful, we were even allowed to keep our luggage at the pub when we checked out so we can go back to it later when going home. All in all I’m actually disappointed I’ve never visited it stayed here before. Don’t be put off by what you read, this was a home from home place, clean, tidy, with friendly locals. I’m actually looking forward to coming back. Thank you for a lovely stay. "
