Pleasant stay, very secure grounds (which include private residences and a golf links). Good menu and service, good facilities. Although situated far from a major road, the road noise was profound when one opened the sliding door for fresh air - a constant traffic roar throughout the night.
With its pristine landscapes and ocean and mountain backdrops, the Western Cape makes for a memorable wedding destination. Couples can choose from a wide range of scenic venues, from rustic spots for intimate open-air ceremonies to historic hotels for lavish parties. And Western Cape’s wedding hotels often have magnificent views, which means spectacular wedding-day photographs too.
Many hotels offer fully inclusive wedding services, and can arrange everything from the catering to the photographer. Should you want to take the reins for your big day, you can also opt to take care of all the extras yourself.
The Cape Winelands are one of the most romantic places for weddings in the Western Cape. The rows of orderly vines and gardens that spread across the estates of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Tulbagh offer secluded spots in which to say your vows. Depending on the season, you might have the wedding reception in an outdoor venue or in an atmospheric wine cellar. You could even incorporate a wine tasting into your Western Cape wedding.
For brides and grooms who dream of a barefoot beach wedding, the Western Cape’s coastal areas offer plenty of choice, and you’ll find some good wedding hotels around the seaside towns of Hermanus and Langebaan. Exchange vows to the sound of the incoming waves before sitting down for a seafood feast.
A little further inland along the Garden Route lie even more potential wedding accommodations, including secluded lodges next to rivers and forests.
When your Western Cape wedding is over, it will be time for the honeymoon to begin – and you’ll already be in the perfect place. Action-loving newlyweds can take their pick from a range of memorable activities, including safaris, whale-watching excursions and hiking trips. If you would prefer a less strenuous honeymoon itinerary, consider heading for a luxury beachside resort where lounging by the water’s edge is the order of the day.
