This was our second stay at the guest house. It is excellent value for money. Beautifully decorated and great attention to detail. It is a short walk to the coast and to shops and restaurants.

"Hermanus next to the sea."
We enjoyed our stay of 1 night. Lovely big airy bedrooms and bathroom. We found the general standard good and cleanliness excellent and beds comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style both hot and cold and a really good choice of fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon and sausage and would definately recommend the kidneys although not everyone's choice these were especially tasty. We were really surprised to receive the free bottle of wine and couldn't have felt more welcomed.

"This Classic Hotel has Great Facilities and Staff "
This grand old hotel is justly famous for its service. Despite its age, the facilities are modern and well kept. The location is fabulous. Breakfast in the Seafood restaurant is highly recommended, but we found the food at dinner to be mediocre at best. The dinner experience is crowded, noisy, and pretentious and we had a much better dinner our second night after walking down the hill to Equinox on the beach. The food and ambiance there was fantastic.

"Location, location, location ... and food"
The Marine must occupy one of the world's great natural locations. Perched on the cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean in the resort town of Hermanus, there is no better place to enjoy breakfast. Walk along the cliffs, visit the beach, watch for whales ... what's not to like? BTW - the food is great.

Harbour House Hotel

5 Harbour Road (Harbour Square), Hermanus - Map

"Good hotel with lovely views over the bay"
Nice hotel but the best rooms are in the Harbour House building and don't have aircon. As it was very hot (32deg C +) when we arrived and the fan wasn't working, we had a sleepless first night. The staff were quick to replace it when reported in the morning, but it should have been checked when the room was prepared. Otherwise the room was well kitted out, though we felt they should not have charged 10 rand per capsule for the espresso machine. Lovely pool with great views and pleasant helpful staff. Only breakfast and lunch were available in the hotel but there were plenty of restaurants nearby.

Garden Route Game Lodge

"Great African game lodge experience"
The Garden Route Game Lodge did not disappoint. The rondavels had the right character for being on an African safari, but still had the comforts of a great hotel. The staff was helpful and pleasant, the food was good. We cooled off in the pool, and enjoyed the views of the veld. But the real stars of this hotel were the animals. The elephants and giraffe, the baby wildebeests and ostriches, the lions, the baby rhino and the cheetah. For a private game reserve, there was a feel that we were in the wilds of Africa.

"Interesting experience but..."
Stayed two nights at the Aquila recently on vacation in Cape Town. The reserve is about a 2 hour drive and a stop in the wine country near Stellenbosch is worth the diversion. After doing a Kruger safari the weekend before, the Aquila was a little disappointing because they have all of the cats separated in a holding area separate from the other animals, and unlike Kruger, they know exactly how many elephants, rhino, zebra etc are there and pretty much where to find them... so it's much more like a large zoo rather than a natural area. The guides were well versed in the animals and friendly, but on the evening drives we spent more than 30 minutes stopped for a 'wine break' instead of seeing animals. I can drink wine in my hotel room or at home.

Pocket Guide: Conference Centre Hotels in Western Cape

    Business Trips to Western Cape

Though better known for its scenic splendour, the Western Cape is also an excellent place to do business, thanks in no small part to its thriving tech scene and superb transport infrastructure. Cape Town, in particular, is fast gaining ground as one of South Africa’s premier business hubs and there is a growing presence of startups as well as established international companies in the city.

    Conference Hotels in Western Cape

Conference hotels can be found all around the Western Cape. Stay in a seaside town located on the stunning Garden Route or opt for inland accommodation in the heart of wine country. Most conference hotels in the Western Cape are located outside Cape Town, allowing business travellers to unwind in natural surroundings and relax on post-conference tours. Business-friendly amenities including free WiFi, on-site meeting rooms and tea and coffee-making facilities are available at many of Western Cape’s conference hotels.

The Western Cape’s wide range of conference hotels prove that conferences needn’t be bland and boring. Many of the conference hotels in the region are big on character and range from small rural homestead-style lodges to big historic oceanfront properties with panoramic ocean views. Some offer self-catering options including barbecues, while others have on-site restaurants and lounges for meetings and debriefings.

    Conferencing in the City Centre

Business travellers attending a conference in the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) may want to stay in the city centre or at De Waterkant, which will put them within walking distance of the venue. The well-regarded conference centre, which has received accolades for its facilities, is a multi-purpose venue capable of hosting large-scale events of all kinds.

Added Lifestyle Benefits for Business Travellers

When it comes to free-time activities in the Western Cape, the options are pretty spectacular. Get familiar with the terroir during wine-tasting trips, go on a whale-watching expedition from Hermanus, hike through ancient forests and squeeze in a round of golf with colleagues at one of the Western Cape’s championship courses. You may also want to work in a visit to a wildlife reserve or sanctuary into your itinerary to get a glimpse of stealthy big cats, giraffes and even elephants.
