"The place for space and relaxation on Garden Route"
Lovely self-catering chalets, on the lagoon with private access to it. Well appointed chalets, bathroom and shower room, deck and barbecue facilities, easy access to shops, the town and restaurants but peaceful and easy going. Nothing on the TV so we had a DVD streamed to us. There is a small amount of free wifi, but it is available all around Knysna or you can buy extra time from Reception. We found it an excellent spot to recharge our batteries for the next round of travelling and eating.

"Nice 2 night stay"
Hotel is in a great position on the beach. Our room overlooked the lagoon on the western side and had a balcony with sun loungers, table & chairs and an umbrella. Useful fridge in room but no complimentary bottles of water, which we had at every other guest house / lodge on our trip to the area. Room was large and bed comfortable. Appeared to be more functional than luxury. Staff were helpful and breakfast was good, as was our evening meal at The Lemon Grass restaurant. Good secure car parking and cars were washed - an added bonus.

"Most amazing room"
Wow we were greeted by warm friendly staff with umbrella to keep us dry. We stayed in the Presidential suite it was fantastic pure luxury. We look forward to staying there again. Great walk along the beach from a staircase at the hotel. You do need a car to get to town for the shops and restaurants.

"Top Quality & Top Service"
I am not one for writing such reports, but having stayed at the Beach Villa accommodation I felt compelled to give some feedback. I am a frequent traveller and stayed at many 5 star hotels around the world, but I must stay the Quality of amenities and the service/ hospitality, matched with the location of this villa is just Top Class. The proprietors assisted us in selecting and booking the Local restaurants, of which there are quite a few for such a small town and of the ones we sampled.... all of a high quality. We stayed in Suite 1 which was stunning. Can't beat it and can't wait to return one day. A very happy traveller.

"Fantastic Hotel in Close Proximity to Town"
We arrived after booking only a few hours before as we had decided to do the Garden Route and this was a stop over on our way back. We had only booked a few hours before but when we arrived, the owner had already received our booking and greated us. The hotel itself is within a compound area for security behind electric gates so you must call the button first to be let in. We were greated, shown to our room and let be. The room itself was more than what we had expected... Much more! To say the pictures and reviews don't do this place justice is to say the least! The room, a beach themed retreat, overlooks the pool area. You have a lounge area with TV and minibar and tea/coffee facilities. Through to the main room where there is the main king size bed and en-suite in a double height space which feels light and airy. Also a treat on our bed on arrival with rusks for our coffee - a perfect little treat to start the stay. Fantastic rooms, clean and very comfortable! Only down side, you can hear next door very clearly as there appears to be a joining door to both rooms - but this may not be the case in all! Also when you are sat watching TV, you don't have any element of privacy as people are watching you from the poolside and garden area which is very close. But on the whole, a relaxed, comfortable stay and would most definitely stay again and recommend to all - especially at the price we had!

"Wacky, nostalgic hotel with great view"
Staying here was a different experience. Hotel harks back to the inter-war years of the grand hotels with decor and furnishings themed accordingly. This theme continues into bed heights (ours must have been a meter from the floor!) and the placement of light switches, which in our room were not designed to be turned off from the bed. However, the staff were lovely, as were the breakfasts served up on the patio overlooking the panorama of Plettenberg Bay with the Tsitsikamma Mountains beyond. We ate at the hotel on one of our two evenings and enjoyed nicely-presented, tasty food with quality wines available by the glass.

Pocket Guide: Beach Hotels in Western Cape

Staying near the Beach in Western Cape

Western Cape is famous for its coastline, and choosing a beach hotel allows you to get straight to the sand and the waves every morning. From budget-friendly lodges to five-star luxury, there is beach accommodation in Western Cape offers something for everyone – romantic beachfront guesthouses, bed and breakfasts and apartment-style hotels offer fantastic views and easy access to water-based activities and attractions.

Western Cape Beach Hotels for Families

Many of the beach hotels in Western Cape are designed with both adults and kids in mind. Outdoor swimming pools can be a big bonus, especially if the ocean waves are too rough for the younger travellers. Finding a hotel that offers childcare will allow adults to enjoy some quality time together, perhaps in the spa or over a gourmet meal. And if you’d prefer a quiet, secluded location you can also find accommodation a little further back from the coast, just a leisurely walk or a short drive from the beach.

Which Western Cape Beach Should I Choose?

Preekstoel Beach in West Coast National Park is wild and beautiful. It stretches for 25 kilometres and crashing waves roll in across its length. This is a great place for a long barefoot walk and also has a tranquil lagoon for swimming.

Isolated Noetzie Beach in Knysna tempts sunseekers with a secluded cove, while history enthusiasts flock to it to see the castles that overlook the ocean. Meanwhile, Pringle Bay in Overberg is known for its large sand dunes and is the perfect place for surfing, swimming and body boarding.

    Beach Hotels for Every Budget

There’s plenty of Western Cape beach accommodation within each budget range. You can splash out on a full-service luxury hotel, or save money by booking a simple guesthouse or backpacker hostel. Whether you’re an adventure sport enthusiast, a family group or a couple, you can use Expedia’s search filters to find the perfect Western Cape beach hotel for you.
