Many of the beach hotels in Western Cape are designed with both adults and kids in mind. Outdoor swimming pools can be a big bonus, especially if the ocean waves are too rough for the younger travellers. Finding a hotel that offers childcare will allow adults to enjoy some quality time together, perhaps in the spa or over a gourmet meal. And if you’d prefer a quiet, secluded location you can also find accommodation a little further back from the coast, just a leisurely walk or a short drive from the beach.
Preekstoel Beach in West Coast National Park is wild and beautiful. It stretches for 25 kilometres and crashing waves roll in across its length. This is a great place for a long barefoot walk and also has a tranquil lagoon for swimming.
Isolated Noetzie Beach in Knysna tempts sunseekers with a secluded cove, while history enthusiasts flock to it to see the castles that overlook the ocean. Meanwhile, Pringle Bay in Overberg is known for its large sand dunes and is the perfect place for surfing, swimming and body boarding.
There’s plenty of Western Cape beach accommodation within each budget range. You can splash out on a full-service luxury hotel, or save money by booking a simple guesthouse or backpacker hostel.
