Marvellous to be allocated the RH Suite. It was wonderful! We'd love to get it on our next visit, probably next year.

"Will always go back and recommend to any and all!!"
One of the most beautiful places situated in the most picturesque of scenes, and close to all points of interest. It was safe, very clean, and there was everything you might need or expect on a holiday, to be honest facilities were overall excellent. The staff were lovely and never hesitated to help wherever they could. The food was divine and we were spoiled for choice. A great holiday made even better by staying at the right place, and I have already booked next year's holiday with the family :-) Will highly recommend to all good people that love good things. Until next time, God bless!!

Wish we had stayed longer as the hotel is in a lovely area and the staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay, giving bus plenty suggestions of things to do, places to eat, etc.

"Good for golfers"
We used this for an overnight stop along the Garden Route. As a result, we didn't use the facilities for the full. I can see that this would be ideal for golfers.

"Great African game lodge experience"
The Garden Route Game Lodge did not disappoint. The rondavels had the right character for being on an African safari, but still had the comforts of a great hotel. The staff was helpful and pleasant, the food was good. We cooled off in the pool, and enjoyed the views of the veld. But the real stars of this hotel were the animals. The elephants and giraffe, the baby wildebeests and ostriches, the lions, the baby rhino and the cheetah. For a private game reserve, there was a feel that we were in the wilds of Africa.

"Great safari experience catering to families "
The Gondwana game reserve was such a great experience it surpassed all expectations we collectively had as a family. The location made us feel completely isolated in the wilderness as true a simulation to being somewhere in the wild. The landscape, the flora the beauty was surreal. Though we stayed for three nights I feel that two would be sufficient as you could easily fit in a few game drives. The kids got slightly bored in between as there was no cable TV but you could rent DVDs (not the best selection available unfortunately) and find other means to pass the time such as short walks in the fenced areas. We stayed at the Sunset Ridge Lodges which was a good distance away from the main reception area and was a bit laborious getting to and fro especially at night. The lodge we had was very large and would be more suited to a party of 8 and was very well equipped with all mod cons though the furnishings and decor was not to my taste. The food was very good and staff were all wonderful and attentive. The highlight of our time though would have to be our Ranger, Eugene. We learnt so much from our drives together and he has such a wonderful way with children and adults. His passion for his work is so evident and we were very fortunate to have him as our Ranger.

Harbour House Hotel

5 Harbour Road (Harbour Square), Hermanus - Map

"Good hotel with lovely views over the bay"
Nice hotel but the best rooms are in the Harbour House building and don't have aircon. As it was very hot (32deg C +) when we arrived and the fan wasn't working, we had a sleepless first night. The staff were quick to replace it when reported in the morning, but it should have been checked when the room was prepared. Otherwise the room was well kitted out, though we felt they should not have charged 10 rand per capsule for the espresso machine. Lovely pool with great views and pleasant helpful staff. Only breakfast and lunch were available in the hotel but there were plenty of restaurants nearby.

Quite charming and stunning setting. Accommodation in a wonderful thatched rondvall style cottage with meals and drinks at the main house. A quality of service, food and facilities 1st class. Would recommend without hesitation. An ideal stop off along the garden route and at a reasonable price. Well done.
