Excellent spa services

Posted 31-Jan-2016
Pros: Excellent food and superior spa treatment
Cons: Upgraded room could be improved
Location: Close to Uni.
The spa services were excellent. The upgraded room did not quite meet my expectations, but the bed was very comfortable. The pool was very busy so it was difficult to enjoy it as much as I hoped. The food was excellent. I enjoyed a delicious creme brûlée when I ordered rooms service.

Noise Polution

Posted 26-Jan-2016
Pros: location and facilities
Cons: lighting in rear carparking area
Our corridor was a little noisy due to a few boistrous guests, but overall no problem as once we went into our room it was not obtrusive

Good hotel

Posted 05-Jan-2016
Pros: Price, staff
Cons: There was no safe or mini bar in the bedroom. The pool is great, however there are lots of restrictions about the time kids can get in the pool.
The hotel in general was good, staff were helpful and the price was really good. There are lots of families around, so it is a good place to take the kids.

Check in and check out- excellent with no delay. request for my elderly mother to have a room near a lift in advance was dealt with well.

Pros: Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great.
Cons: The rooms could be updated, but beds were comfortable and room was clean.
We needed somewhere handy that had parking, this ticked the boxes and we weren't disappointed. We had a hassle free stay.

Standards have slipped …

Posted 28-Dec-2015
Pros: Not much. All the staff looked unhappy (a vast contrast to Xmas 2014) and I'll be looking at other options for Xmas 2015.
Cons: Village Leeds North badly needs a new manager who will take some responsibility for its failings and remedy them ASAP.
Location: Handy for the Leeds ring road but not much else.
We stay here every year at Xmas because it's convenient for family – but there have been some small but significant changes over the past year, none of them for the better, and all of them apparently motivated by cutting cost whilst at the same time offering less for residents. The last two years we'd been given a free (and unrequested) upgrade to an 'Upper Deck' room; this year we had a standard room, which would have been fine, had it not been for some basic flaws. The section that used to contain tissues in the bathroom weirdly had a loose piece of black slate placed over it – bizarre and unwelcome as I had a terrible cold. The TV only had about eight channels, one of which was the image of a computer screen – I don't expect Sky, but not even Freeview? Weird and nonsensical. The room was dirty – cobwebs and layers of dust visible. Breakfasts have majorly gone downhill. Gone are the 'serve yourself' bowls of fruit salad, fruit compote and granola, now replaced by tiny plastic pots containing barely any fruit, and tiny pots of yoghurt with either compote or granola on top. What happened to customer choice, and why deprive residents of fresh fruit? To add insult to injury, there weren't any of these tiny pots available on any morning (and we weren't late), and it seemed to take ages for any to appear. I raised these issues at checkout, but the staff seemed incapable of dealing with a dissatisfied customer and just looked blankly as I explained what was wrong. Oh dear …

Nice chain hotel close to city centre

Posted 07-Dec-2015
The Village Leeds North was exactly what you would expect from A Village Hotel, clean, modern with good facilities (bar, gym, Starbucks, restaurant). The double rooms are a decent size fairly sound proof and clean. We were attending a concert at Leeds Arena and found buses into the centre to run from a bus stop just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel very frequently at £2.80 pp single fare. We also ended up getting the bus back from just up from the arena at 11:30 again all quite easy thanks to Google Maps app! We had breakfast included in our rate and this was the only slightly disappointing part - not as good at Premier Inn's I'm afraid - bitter coffee, rock hard bacon being the main disappointments. This wouldn't put me off staying again though and I would recommend to friends - with great accommodation and free parking just maybe get a Starbucks breakfast.

Variety

Posted 12-Nov-2015
Pros: The staff
Cons: Decor a little dated.
As a late booking I was fortunate to get a room, the staff were very helpful and polite. The food in the bar was good and the service great. Pleanty of parking and it seems they had a sports club and other facilities.

Tired hotel, with nice fitness accommodations

Posted 10-Nov-2015
Pros: Spa with later hours. Starbucks in the lobby. Onsite restaurant had a nice, varied menu and the food was good, service was very good.
Cons: Stop letting kids run around unsupervised. Replace the worn furnishings.
Traveling on business and got booked into this hotel mainly because they had spa services available. Will say the spa personnel were great, accommodated my need for a late appointment on a Sunday. This is not a hotel to use if you want quiet. Numerous kids running about in the lobby, racing each other and screaming - have no idea where the parents were, probably right there. Would have liked the staff to stop them. Food in restaurant was good, bit pricey. No luggage stand in the room and it was HOT, but at least you could open the windows. Bathroom was clean. Phone not programmed with front desk number, but when I called and asked for a hair dryer since the one in the room would not work, they had it to me in 5 minutes, really appreciated that. I would say overall the hotel is just a bit tired. Furnishing threadbare and a little dingy. Lots of traffic with people going in and out to the fitness areas.

Gym and Pool facility are excellent as was the food. Venue Hotels are generally nice locations, good hotels, good service and good value for money.
