Mediocre hotel

Posted 09-Mar-2016
We elected to upgrade to the Upper Deck room - as promised better views, better beds, Starbucks coffee , sky movies.. This is all greatly exaggerated and not in the slightest worth the money what so ever. We were staying with two young children and choose the hotel as it had a large pool for them to play and be occupied. The gym members made us feel most unwelcome - dirty looks, the staff were the same - of not worse and we were only allowed certain times. If it wants to be a health club for members they shouldn't advertise themselves as a hotel as well. As clearly they don't run well as both. We were made to feel as intruders when we were paying quite a lot of money to stay and use the facilities.... Showers cold and barely worked, no toilet paper in any of the toilets and generally unkempt changing facilities. We spent an afternoon in the Starbucks cafe with the two children . There were many many business types working in lap tops again giving us dirty looks for invading their work space - appeared to me it was a hotel - but they obviously run more as a business meeting place , gym membership and hotel rooms on top. I felt furious at this point as we were paying good money to stay here not hide in out room - with barely any sky's channels and lacking wifi performance. Don't stay unless you're on your own for business..

Could have been somewhat better

Posted 24-Feb-2016 on Hotels
Lovely room of adequate size. Some pipe noise possibly from swimming pool/leisure complex. Tasteful refurb let down by dreadful stains all along the corridor carpets. This needs attention. Breakfast could have been fresher. Busy enough for eggs not to go hard but they were! Coffee poor, breakfast choice could be more extensive in all departments. First rate response from lost property!

Business trip

Posted 22-Feb-2016
Pros: everything really
Cons: always need to update
Location: Only 15mins to the city center and on the main route for local tranport
This was a one night business trip which overall was a pleasant stay.

Avoid room 120

Posted 19-Feb-2016 on Hotels
Really disappointed with my recent stay. I stayed in this hotel a few weeks ago in an upper deck room at the front of the hotel. Lovely room however, it was quite noisy with people coming and going through the night. I specifically asked for a quiet room at the back of the hotel and was told no problem. I went out for the evening and when I got into bed the room was very noisy as if the heating was making a noise or boiler. I phoned reception who said that room 120 was next to the pool and could be noisy! They did apologise and asked if I wanted to change rooms but this was 11.30pm and I was up early for work and couldn't really face packing and unpacking again. I spoke with reception the morning to say guests need to be warned about the room, the lady showed no interest at all. I send an email to the hotel and have not had a response. So my advice to anyone is avoid room 120 if you want yo sleep!

Awful, loud hotel with poor staff.

Loud, noisy, people were running up and down the corridor at 1, 2 and 4am. When I told the receptionist the next morning there was no remorse & made put it was my fault for not calling reception. I want a refund.

Great hotel, great facilities...

Enjoyed staying here very much. Great staff and location and although the evening food menu was perhaps a little limited it was of a very high standard. The 'proper' bar being separate from the Restaurant was nice but my only minor bug was that the gym is a public one so parking became busy at certain times of day and also the pool etc needed to be shared with classes or swim schools.

Drop in standards.

I like the Village hotels gym so try to use them whenever possible. The upper deck room was poor in comparison to others I have stayed. Restaurant served up part cooked chicken. Overall not the best experience I've had when using Village hotels.
