Awful stay

Posted 03-Feb-2016
am writing this review due to the appalling experience I have had during a recent stay at the park plaza. Me and my friend booked a what was described as a premium double room on Saturday 16th of January. We checked in were given a key card for a room on the 5th floor, upon entering the room my first impressions did not wow me. The room was described as premium and with a minibar, there was nothing premium about it and there was no mini bar. The room looked dirty, there was several marks on the wall around the light switch and splash marks where drinks had been spilled, the bed was small for a premium room in my view. Due to my occupation I stay in hotels around the country and my company hold accounts with Raddison and premier inn. I have never had a bad experience in either, premier inn is branded budget accommodation, but compared to this room and my experience I would consider premier inn luxury 5 star! Regardless of my disappointment with the room, I was willing to put my disappointment aside as me and my friend were already late arriving in Leeds due to the heavy snowfall that night. We began getting ready to go out for some drinks, unpacked everything and got in the shower. I used the toilet and then to my embarrassment it would not flush, I was highly embarrassed as I was on my period. I rang down to reception several times and no one answered the phone, I then had to get dressed as I was in my towel and go down to reception. I Explained the problem at reception a

Mostly positive

Pros: Location. Directly opposite the station. Walkable to everything in Leeds city centre.
Cons: Listen to customer requests.
The hotel is in an excellent location. Right beside the station and walking distance to shops and restaurants. The hotel lobby and bar areas are clean and pleasant and the rooms are clean. However, I booked a number of rooms, all as twins. As suggested by Expedia, I phoned the hotel directly to confirm this and it was agreed the rooms would all be twin rooms. on Arrival all rooms were set up as doubles. I spoke to the staff on reception who were very helpful and said they would have housekeeping sort it out. Unfortunately this didn't actually happen and the rooms were all left as doubles. Also there are a lot of groups of male/ female party groups staying at this hotel and we did noise issues and someone attempt to use their keycard in our door during the night.

Lovely hotel . Staff were obliging and room was really clean. The large bed was comfy too. Superior rooms are larger and have tea/coffee and fridge. Elemis toiletries were a lovely touch. Would definately book this.hotel again.

Not bad but not great either

Posted 24-Nov-2015
When we booked twin rooms through expedia they sent our booking to the hotel as double rooms instead which understandably isnt the hotels fault but when we complained we got a very generic response of "yes this always happens" so obviously this is something that happens alot which the hotel can not be bothered to fix and instead just decide to let thier guests be lied to while taking their money and placing the blame in someone else! We were nit given any apology or resolution apart from "we can provide extra bedding" meaning someone would have to sleep on the floor??? The hotel itself is beautiful and majority of the staff are friendly! However if you need to call reception or room service be ready for a 5 minute wait for to be answered! And this wasnt just on one occassion its was everytime (4 calls between 3 different rooms) we called my family have stayed here several times in the past and i git engaged here so it hold a special memory for me but the service has gone way downhill since!

Awful stay - need to invest in hearing that works

Posted 09-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Awful stay. Arrived in the evening and my room was colder than outside. After messing for a while with the heating established it didn't work - phoned reception and they sent up a small fan heater? Day 2 I arrived back to my cold room - but the fan heater had broken. Hotel sent up an oil radiator replacement. Day 3 arrived back to a cold room, oil heater had vanished to be replaced by another small fan heater. So in summary an uncomfortable stay - both as had cold room, no one was interested in looking at the problem and the bed was uncomfortable. On the plus the location was handy, Gym was ok and the restaurant was v good. All in all It was my first stay here - but will be going back to Doubletrees / Malmaison in future.
